The only important feature that I really want is aftertouch, which I don't see as a feature,I hope KORG listens.

It looks wonderful. I gotta check this out. But I agree aftertouch would really make it awesome.

I hope Korg do really well with this little keyboard. Although I know sound is of the utmost importance, when I read KING KORG I was rather expecting something more visually stunning...and I kind of wish it looked more retro (1970s/80s as opposed to 1990s/00s). Although the sound is vital, touch and aesthetics with vintage keys is almost as important as sound to an enthusiast and hobbyist (who buy more units than Pro Users). But I guess its all down to price.

Look forward to hearing the demo's through headphones tonight (sound pretty good through the laptop even)

This is going to be a great synth. They modeled some iconic filters on this unit. It's great that there are KNOBS all over the panel too. I also like that the panel is actually real metal. It's not as retro looking as some may have hoped, but I think it looks pretty darn good. I love the multiple displays. It's a little pricey though. I think it's going for $1299.

Korg didn't just drop this new synth at NAMM. Korg just blew the lid on the "synth purist" market and brought back the classic (and well loved) MS-20. Literally brought it back, and it stays true to its analogue heritage. It's pure analogue baby!

Korg reduced its size down to like 80 something percent of the original size, and designed a new set of keys too. It's not the micro keys we see on all their current models, but larger and with better quality feel to them.

They are even giving the consumer ten patch cables with it (the original only came with two). What's even more crazy is that it's selling for $599 street price. That's freakin INSANE considering this synth is being properly "re-released" to the public true to the original. The chief engineer that was responsible for the original MS-20 even oversaw the production of the MS-20 mini.

Both the KingKorg and the new MS-20 Mini are already up on Sweetwater's website. DSI just dropped a new Prophet 12 that's showing up at Sweetwater too, BUT that beast is three grand surprised

Amazing what interest is shown in things like this, when it's pretty obvious that, by the vast majority, no-one is even slightly interested in the kind of music that this thing is designed for.

Maybe there's a hidden core of hardcore techno and trance fans here, but you'd never guess it from any of the user demos posted, and the kudos that hoary old standards and Broadway tunes get!

Are we all so bored with our gear that almost ANYTHING new gets our juices flowing? rolleyes

A song says a thousand words, Donny. The day I hear anything even CLOSE to the factory demos here at SZ, I will change my tune.

How many Orbital, or even Muse tunes do YOU do? LOL

I can say the same for you Diki?.........although one can certainly use any Synth KB to utilize it's sounds to play many genres of music not just saw waves, etc,. your free to choose whatever way you want to play the KB...you never know what people are doing with their music,....SZ is not the tell all of the worlds creative juices my friend! If you think most here are just some elderly NH driven arranger KB players your very very mistaken,.. cool2

Analog doesn't mean you can only play techno with it. You can create beautiful sounds with it and use them as lead sounds. I happen to love and play Dance music from the "80's and 90's.

For example:

So true. My classic rock cover band plays mostly 80s covers that heavily use analog synths. My Motif 6 really sucks at those sort of sounds, so the KingKorg would be an invaluable addition for providing analog patches and realtime control for covers we play like The Cars, Blondie, Talking Heads, Till Tuesday etc and the list goes on. The VR-09 also interests me for the same reason as it looks like an nice light weight keyboard to compliment my Motif.

I guess I'm spoiled with the G70. Add an SRX-07 Ultimate Keys board to it, and most of the 70's 80's and a lot of the 90's synth stuff is well covered.

I've even been called on to cover some Lady Gaga stuff live for a girl singer, and amazed myself at how well the G70 keeps up. Roland have always made synth sounds one of the best sections in their arranger Tone section. You can even set the sliders up to do VCF sweeps and LFO depth and speed things. Sure, it ain't a King Korg (which itself is no Prophet12!) but I'm always amazed at how close I can get!
