If Johnny Cash shot a man in Reno (Nevada) just to watch him die, why did he do time in Folsom Prison in California?

From what I quickly researched, there was only one prison open in Nevada (prior to 1964) at the time of the song's release. Perhaps it was full....

Oddly, except for a few "local overnights", he never had any real prison time. Jan. 1st, 1958, He played his first ever prison concert in San Quentin, while inmate Merle Haggard watched and listened (Haggard was released after serving only 2 years of a 15 year burglary sentence)...

Good information Sparky, but I don't think the song was about him (Johnny Cash)... or was it?
It's just one of those weird questions that I have many of.

Like...how long should I hold a door open for a person behind me?
At what distance must they be before I say to myself...too far away, I'll just let the door close.
But if it's a nice looking female, should I hold the door open longer for her, than say, for someone... like Chas smile

Larry ( no not Larry David) smile

Chances are, if you're looking at the female behind you, you'll walk into the door and it will open as you fall through it... rotfl

Hey Larry, last time I held a door open for a young lady I just got a frosty look from her. I guess some ladies don't appreciate a courtesy now and again.

If she didn't she really wasn't a "lady". Real ladies do appreciate the consideration. Don't stop.

I'm at the age now that young ladies hold the door for me.
It's a nice perk that comes with getting older. smile
