AJ. He would not be carrying an extra item
He'd be carrying a smaller/lighter unit
The only extra item is a midi cable smile

I would think if the Audya was going to be the unit you play, having the buttons more conviently located above the keys would be a plus. Also getting the MIDI working corectly can be a pain.

Thanks AJ,

Wonder why I haven't seen anyone use that option. All I see around here are KORG PA3Xs. Maybe it's the extra 4 grand.

Decisions decisions...

Thanks
Steve.

In my opinion, the keys on the KORG PA3X have a better feel. More piano like I also can't return the PA3X but I can still return the Audya 5 for a full refund. I have a 30 day money back guarantee. As far as I know. KORG doesn't have a module for the PA3X so I have no choice but to use the KORG as the keyboard and the Audya as the added module if I want both.

Steven

just curious as to how you're doing with the Audya?
liking it? loving it?
compared to the other 2?
keeping it or returning?

Steven, I've used the PA800 with a Midjay then a Midjay Plus for several years.
Ciao,
Jerry

Regarding the sound of the Audya (you mention the Piano sound being tinny) I cant stress enough that all Audya owners should be using a PA with a full and balanced frequency range. Almost all budget PA systems on the market are missing mid range. (and by budget I mean under £2000)

The problem is every PA owner will insist their PA is fine, but if you want to experience your Audya at its best you need an almost Studio reference quality system.

In fact the first thing you should invest in is a set of reference speakers for your home, you can do all your programming and set up. Your PA needs to sound as good...just louder smile

I’m afraid there is no arranger out there that doesn’t have a piano sound that sucks big time (And the Audya is no exception) due to the pathetic amount of sample Ram available, and no PA system is going to change it, no matter how much it costs.

Here is how a sampled piano should sound Grand Piano

You are right to in that samples on arrangers will not in some cases be as good as specialist virtual instruments or the real thing. Same is true of a Hammond sound, sax section, accordions, guitars...and so on.

But I would hardly say the attached Piano sound from the Audya sucks, Its a real nice vintage sounding Grand Piano that will more than satisfy most keyboardists. (if you want a vintage sounding piano of course)

No point in listening to it through computer speakers though
