Awesome...impressed with the percussion especially in the Distortion Demo. The drummer was out front and part of the action. Was that an audio style?

Thanks for posting old Newb, we are FINALLY getting video demos...wonder why the delay?

The sounds are very good. But something didn`t seem right about the way the pitch shifted recording was played back. Ofcourse, there was the pitch shift.. but also the instrument in the recording had some wobbling effect.. don`t know how to express it smile Is it just me ?

Thanks for sharing the demos. They are very realistic. It would be nice if Yamaha could come up with an exclusive demo of the new Audio styles.

Jez, what you may have not noticed and what could have been what you heard was ..... After the guy dropped the pitch he then incrementally dropped the speed as well. That could have been the warbling you heard as it dropped step by step in speed.
Personally, I do not foresee it as necessarily being a flaw of some kind. Of course we'll know more down the road.

Wait, after listening again, I see what you mean. I agree something sounds amiss. Sigh

Its in video 3 posted above. Around 0:40 he starts to play back the recorded piece. Then around 0:55 we start to hear that very apparent change in sound of that instrument. May be that was at the extreme range of pitch shift this can handle.. didn`t sound much though.

I do not think it would be too much of a problem if its done within a reasonable limit and mainly, the styles with accompaniments having longer hold time(like woodwinds, strings etc.) will make it more apparent.

But one thing is for sure, Yamaha surely have nailed the drums and distortion effects. I am happy that inspite of the Audio drums, distortion effects and live feel, they still have a well equalized accompaniment arrangement out of the box. Each to his own though smile

It would be nice if they can demo also the vocal harmonizer highlighting its improvements.

That is fantastic!! I do all my own vocals but that would be fun to use!! Will the S950 have the exact same VH2 as the Tyros4?

I would say the VH2 upgrade is the same on both models, I have not heard or read anything to the contrary......so I guess you made your decision Stein67?

Yeah, pretty much. Unless a great deal on a pre-owned Tyros 4 appears out of the blue between now and me buying the S950 (will do so when my local dealer has in stock as I want a quick look first.....if they don't match the best online price of £1604 I have seen, I'll then order online).

It'll primarily be used as a song writing sketch pad and home studio use with VSTs etc., but I do like having the inbuilt speakers if I need to take it to a party or rehearsals if I get a new band up and running.

Nice find Donny you are back on track, the T4 is rarely used for professionals in the UK and can never understand why, who needs a 4 piece band to sing with. singer

You need to get out more, your starting to believe what the Yamaha marketers are telling you.

Thanks DNJ for the VH2 demo. Obviously Yamaha made a good improvement in this department.

Now, if somebody can demo the different audio drums only, that would be great!

Jim your very welcome........I'm still not convinced VH2 is in the same quality as the TC Helicon Units,...but at least it's some improvement the VH1 when used properly.
