I recently had each of my two PSR-S910's repaired because I was having to press the EXIT buttons harder and harder to get them to work. One of the keyboards had to have the BREAK button replaced as well. It cost $200 to fix both keyboards.

I'm kicking myself because one of my keyboards has been having trouble with a scratchy sound when I turn the volume pot, and I forgot to mention it to my technician. I have tried to blow compressed air (with a can, not my nose), but it doesn't help. I probably need to remove the pot - or I don't know.

Is there any way - short of opening up the keyboard - to fix this?

Switch cleaner aerosol. Just blow 'er in there and zip the knob around as you spray. (Can I say that on a family board? :-))

beakybird ... fortunately, I've never experienced the problem so unfortunately, I can't help ...
124's suggestion sounds like a good one ... have you tried this:
http://www.amazon.com/CRC-Electrical-Contact-Cleaner-Aerosol/dp/B003NTQCA2
customer reviews look good ...

BTW ...sorry to have continued this thread down the wrong path ... don't want it to get to the point that you have to 'weed' out the helpful suggestions ... rotfl

Almost any good contact cleaner will work. Just go to Radio Shack and ask for contact cleaner. My guitars and amps develop the same problem, and this stuff always works. Usually, it's lack of use that causes the problem.

I had such a bad problem with my 910 and 3000 before that. Yamaha simply doesn't make those buttons hold up to constant use. I like the 950 looks, but the pots.........yuk
