I knew Yamaha was receiving a few 750s this week but didn't know they would ship so soon to me. I was also told only 5 950s were arriving but these would be going to Keyboard Magazine and reviewers to be evaluated. The next shipment should arrive soon after and they will allocate to the dealers. My inside rep says not until October.
So here's my first impression of the PSRS750:

First, you need to know that I wasn't a fan of the previous lower models of the PSR3000, 900 and 910 because I felt that for the price difference buyers should just go for the gusto and spend the few hundred more and get the model with the super articulation sounds, color screen and vocal harmonizer.

The sound system is amazing for this type of arranger. Very full and very loud! By moving the buttons to allow for the larger woofers this is the best system I've heard stock in an arranger.

I also like that Yamaha has moved the 16 square buttons under the display closer to the keys and there is no longer that deep indentation where the buttons were before. The shape and feel of the new white buttons all across the bottom row are very nicely done.

The factory styles and sounds are very much like previous models but with much better sound quality, effects, etc. The Super Articulation Saxophones, Guitars, Strings, etc. are right out of the Tyros3 and PSRS910. Those expecting to hear Tyros 4 choir and solo voice sounds won't find them on these new models. Those are still being left with the tyros4 only.

Here's what I really like:

I loaded in one of my Yamaha Pakages with lots of middle eastern styles and sounds and I transformed this keyboard into a total "world" Oriental Model! This is huge for many of my customers.

Next, I put in a USB drive into the back slot and I quickly loaded up the four multipads with 4 different .wav songs I have on the drive. So now anytime I want to trigger a loop or even a complete song all i have to do is push the pad and the entire song will play or I can stop it at anytime by pushing the same button again. I can also loop the wave file internally for playback as I want it.

There is much to like about this keyboard. Many will still choose the 950 for it's color screen and vocal harmonizer but for others the difference of $700 might make more folks go for the PSRS750.

That beefed-up internal sound system is exactly what I was hoping for. Some of the T4 choir/vocal styles would be nice; however, given all the possibilities, I'd rather have a better sound system. For this old guy, that now means I won't have to tote an external sound system, speakers, stands, mixer, etc.. for small dinner parties. The keyboard alone should suffice.

For those wanting all the sounds and styles of a 910 but not needing the vocal harmonizer and gaining a better speaker system and new and improved sound processor, at $1199.00 this keyboard offers quite a good buy for many musicians.
