Hi Donny,
may also be a good question to ask over on the Korg Forums if you don't have any luck here.

This has been kicked around. Some find little difference. But coming from someone who played 500+ jobs per year and programmed and lived and breathed the 800, I can say they are 2 different animals, in every way. Will never work, I tried it. I loaded song sets and sticks and whatever and it NEVER matched. It was frustrating and very disappointing. I hated the 500 and always had a love affair with the 800. IMO the 500 is a 'dumbed down' version at the very least and is terribly inferior. But hey, I'm out of music now and my comments are MOP. My next move would be the 3x for sure.

Zuki is 100% on the mark Donny. No way can that be done.
Incidentally, I also happen to concur with his opinion on the
PA800, which should come to no surprise to those who know me by now.

regards,
John

I disagree........pa500 is just as good in the right hands as the pa800 less the voc processor........I had them both........now the pa3x is another story.......its usually human error that prevents a kb from sounding great imo.........how many gigs you do has no reflection on the process....pa500 is very capable in many ways.

And I concur with you both, finally having a chance to play the PA-500 and the PA-800 on my last trip to the big city...HUGE difference, in my opinion, the latter being a far more powerful and richer sounding instrument, especially with DNC voices.

Of course, if the entertainer mainly plays SMF and rarely, if ever, does solos over them, or rarely (again, if ever) uses arranger style play, the difference would be less important, and the PA-500 would probably suffice.

“Commonsense” Sorry with such a difference in the price why would they almost the same? Yes there are some similarities but not the same or even close.
