Hi Bob.
Looking forward to your report about the Korg PA3X comparedt to the KN and ease of use.
I'm a sort of irresolute about what to choose as the next challenge regarding arrangerkeyboards ......
ehemmm .... so I simply ordered an accustic western guitar couple of days ago.
I know about 4 chords, so I'll try to accomp Silent Night one way or another.
Have to wait and see, going to pick up the guitar tomorrow. laugh

Good luck with the guitar, GJ. I've got three and can't play any of them worth talking about. Guess I need John C to visit and show me what they can do. Still have problems with muting adjacent strings.

I've got the PA3X as well as a MicroArranger on the way. Intend to midi the MicroArranger to my Roland Combo organ. I have no plans for selling my primary KN7000. It will probably be with me till I can no longer play.

Wishing you the very best with your guitar. You will love it. While the initial learning may take a little while it really is a muscle memory thing and once it clicks in with you it will be full steam ahead from there. I love playing guitar, it has such an immediate physical satisfaction. Plus it sounds so darned good.

I am having a heck of a time getting a good clean tone on most keys except key of D chords.

I don't expect a capo is a legitimate solution is it ?

It may look as a tread hijack, but I know Bob will take it with a smile. At the other hand, we keep his hint about the KN sale alive.
Thinking about my huge KN softwarecollection, I probably should go for it myself...... rolleyes

Anyway,
thank's for the comments guys. The new guitar is a fine sounding instrument, but it sure make my fingertips sore.
Also it looks/feels like my fingers don't move as smooth and flexible as before. Have to do some regular exercises to soften up a bit I guess, but even so, it sure will take some time before I can swap chords as fast that unwanted gaps between each chord are gone.
juggle

Hehe, I got a Capo as well, guess it's still going to be quite a long time before it will be out of the box. No need to transpose looong pauses since they sound pretty much the same. laugh

Cheers

GJ, if you persist, the soreness will soon go away.

I wish there was more time in a day to do all this stuff. I enjoy the guitars but prefer keyboards best. If I could play like Nigel, maybe I would see it differently. . .

The Korg operating system is not for folks in a hurry to play a new keyboard. It takes a lengthy learning phase for folks that are used to the Technics method. For the first time though, I can say that, out of the box, a keyboard has voicing that is better than the KN7000. Can't say the same for the operating system, though. It is a real challenge. Once it is mastered, you can cause the keyboard to be something that fits your personal way of playing. Even the factory stuff is editable. EVERYTHING is editable. Some of the styles are great, some are terrible. But, they are all editable so they can be made whatever way you want.

The soreness will definately go away. It just shows that you are enthusiastic about playing now. Believe me your fingers will toughen up and will stop feeling sore forever. It's just an initial learning thing.

And that gap between changing chords will vanish. I remember when I was learning it actually disappeared overvnight. It wasn't even a gradual change.

Thank's a lot to all of you for inspire and cheer me up. As always, practice and training usually help to make us better and to reach the goals we're heading for.
But in most cases I'm a realist, and to reach the pro level Nigel perform have to stay in my dreams. laugh

Wishful thinking or not, hopefully within a year or two, I'll be able to play a song or three to accomp and amaze our grandkids, if not, they may inherit and have good times by learn and play the guitar. guitar

Cheers
