Does EMC StylesWorks XT, and/or 'any other' software utility out there support converting the latest:

Korg PA3X Styles and/or Ketron Audya Styles

to:

Yamaha Tyros 4 or Tyros 2
format?

What software converter program(s) deliver the best results?

Thanks,

Scott keys

I have never heard good results from any style converter, i did a lot of conversions in the past and never a real good result.
I spend my money to buy original DOO or Yamaha style's.

Hi Scott,
it supposedly converts Audya styles, but I've never come across an Audya style to convert,to see how good a job it does.
I would imagine there'd be some hassles with the audio style parts??

I think you'll be waiting a while till you see a PA3X version. I had my PA800 for well over a year before EMC converted PA800 styles.

I use EMC sometimes ( had it for nearly 20 years) it has it's limitations, but better than nothing if a particular style needs to be converted. Only use it if I can't get a midifile of an original style.

Impuls & Rikki: Thanks for your feedback on style conversion.
I have to admit that I too have found it takes quite a bit of time and tweaking to get
converted styles to sound acceptably decent on the target keyboard.
I hope EMC, or another brand style converter will be available soon
of which will support converting styles to/from Audya, Pa3X and Tyros 4.

Yes, I assume that the only Audya styles that could be completely converted (all auto accomp style parts) would be the ones without the audio style drum/instrumental loops,
and of which that keyboard is so impressively famous for,
so probably defeats the desire to convert Audya styles in the first place. oh well. frown

On the other hand, converting PA3X styles to Tyros 4 format and Tyros 4 styles to PA3X format appears to hold more promise. smile

... you'd be missing Audio Drums, Audio Guitars and Audio bass and left with 4/5 chord parts and maybe some percussion (if a groove is not used in the intended style) ...

Hi AJ,
doesn't appear to be much point. haahaa
Strangely enough, the setting exists.
Are a few of the styles on the Audya still totally midi? Be a pretty sparse conversion otherwise. haahaa

Hi Scott,
the more complex the keyboards get, the harder the styles are to convert and get to sound reasonable. Got to contend with, mega voices , dnc voices, guitar mode tracks etc etc it's a wonder EMC can convert them at all. I try to avoid using it, but if I need to convert one of my old Technics, Roland or Ketron styles, I have no choice but to use EMC. My keyboards are long gone.
Fortunately if I want to convert one of my yammie styles, I can do it from a midifile. At least I know any tempo changes in intro's/endings will be intact and it won't mess up minor intro'/endings. One of my psr 1500 ( non mega voice styles) now only takes me a couple of hours for the PA3X. Used to take me way longer for the PA800 because I used to manually convert XG drums to korg format.
Fortunately I enjoy doing it. haahaa.

I spoke to Klaus at EMC a year ago and he said he was working on the Audya but it was on the back burner, and to look for it in about a year. Yea, sure.

Quote from EMC website:

We are currently working on the update for Ketron Audya; this is still going to take some time as the many audio and midi loops are a big challenge for the conversion to other keyboards.

Next on schedule after this is the Tyros 3 format; so we will finally be up-to-date with all current keyboards within shortly hopefully

End quote.

Seems like no "news" update for a long time, cause T3 are also mentioned as next project.

The version of EMC XT Universal I have are v.3.83, haven't seen any new update since that one. confused

Hi Bernie,
there is a Convert From Audya, but unfortunately not a Convert To AUDYA.
With all the audio tracks that Audya uses, wonder what type of track a style would convert to , a similar audio track or just a midi track?
If it potentially only converts to a midi track, couldn't you convert to another format like sd1 or sd5, and use that stlye for the AUdya, or doesn't Audya load another type of format??
Klaus has probably got his work cut out for this one.
