Spalding,

Lost for words, I understand that Scott and NickG looked for him about 2 weeks ago, he wasn't playing that day. Who needs a PA3x, or Kronos, MS, Audya. Blah Blah Blah. Perhaps Larry will buy one when he sees this.

Larry,

One can paint one what one wants to, like Henry Ford said, you can have it in any color you like as long as its black, Pa3x is in black.

This is a stock standard PA1X pro. It sounds amazing and is being played by someone who knows how to use it. If you go amazon

here http://www.amazon.co.uk/Monterey-Style-K...9111&sr=1-4

you can listen to all his albums. They are simply stunning if you are into smooth jazz.

We really dont need any more new tricks, bells and whistles on our arangers. We just need to know how to get the best out of what we have and that requires musicianship , not the next upgrade .

Unfortunately most home users of arrangers will dismiss this as not proper music or playing, due to it sounding too modern and the use of the electric guitar voice. (When I mention Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Wishbone Ash (My era and my type of music) in arranger circles the look of shock I get has to be seen to be believed)

If he wants to move on though he should ditch the arranger (As its irrelevant for this type of playing) and get a workstation, where he could really go to town, and make even that performance look boring.

thing is bill if you wanted to do BOTH arranger style and true worstation work your only real choice is the Korg PA products and thats precisely why i dont own a pure workstation. You cant instantly remix an original piece of music and change up the style immediately or experiment with new material in different styles without doing a whole lot of work first on a workstation only to scrap it later if it doesnt work out favourably ,whereas with an arranger you can flesh out a song in minutes and then re record the same song substituting different chords etc . When you are happy with the structure you can then put your personal stamp the finished product . Thats pretty much impossible with a pure workstation although the Motif range are the closest workstations that have borrowed some arranger creative attributes .

I doubt there is anything you could not do in this example of Brian Culberston song on a workstation that has not been done on this korg PA1X. The idea is prouce great music and thats exactly what this guy is doing using the Korg PA1X instrument. Whether he could have done somnething even more incredible is not a function of the instrument he uses but of his ceativity. this is the mistake that is made time and time again when we get caught up in comparing features of great keyboard workstations......

Wish he'd play arranger style! Playing over a midi or sequence gets old, but very good playing anyway.

Zuki. Yeah, but this guy can do it it all, ask Scotty. I've been down on FW and seen and heard him live, bought the CDs. Doing those kind of bends at that speed, anyone would be hard pressed to be playing 'arranger style.' You just wouldn't have the freedom to be wailin' on that joystick. But you know all this anyway.

Definitely a case of the player and not the instrument...that guy could make a Casio sound awesome.

Excellent playing.

playing over a midi file only sounds old to another arranger player. The general audience dont know what an arranger is or what arranger style playing is . But they know when they hear great music skilfully played :-)

Wow, that doesn't appeal to me at all. I made it about 55 seconds. To each his own. And that guy's constant head bobbing and facial expressions... I'm betting this guy is an electric guitar shredder or else he's been to one too many Van Halen concerts. I think he's costing himself tips and cd sales with his stage movement. As for playing a hundred notes a second, he's pretty good. Give me B B King and some tasteful playing.

its all in the ear of the beholder semilive and its ok if its not to your taste. I was blown away by by both the player and the instrument. He could probably make a casio sound good ......but not that good .
