John,
"Panel memory" is called "Performance"
You can organize performances for quick recall and you have the option of having everything set up, or it can ignore the style change. This is helpful when you are playing a song and want the rhythm to continue and change the sounds alone while it's playing. It's simple to toggle back and forth between the two also.
You also have the songbook - this will set everything - smf/mp3/style/tones/tempo ... whatever you tell it to, and they are listed under several queries:
eg:
title, genre, style
I had a kn7000, and I think you'll love the extra ooomph that the Korg will give you ... especially in the vocal department.
Searching is a snap with the data wheel, or the touch screen ... you can drag a scroll bar with one finger and use the +/- buttons to move one increment at a time.
