For a very long time now I've had the msg on start up "Pitch Wh. not default". Not sur what it is, but it hasn't seemed to be a problem...but lately, another weird thing has happened. As I'm playing along to many midi files, I'm noticing the The piano sound I'm playing is acting sometimes as if I'm using the modulation wheel on it. I don't think it has anything to do with the piano itself, it's just my normal instrument.
I've has to restart many times tonight due to other bizarre behaviour like the 2nd voice acting like I pressed sustain on it foreever as soon as I hit a note. It won't stop and I have to restart it and keep trying until it works properly.
But in any event, I noticed it once said below the pitch msg, another msg almost the same that said "Modulation wheel not default"

Any idea what is going on? I haven't been changing or saving any new configurations. I use the machine very basically. And just in case you are wondering, no I do not have any buttons on I shouldn't like aftertouch, portamento, etc.

Any clue?

No one has any clue at all??

The more I've been trying to discern it, it sounds like the piano I'm playing sounds slightly out of tune with the other midi background.

I'm know you would have already checked that the mod and pitch wheels are centered? It sounds from the error message that the system at least thinks the pitch wheel is putting out data even if it does seem centered.

Hey there. They are physically centered, but I'd swear that internally they got screwed up. It definitely sounds like the lead piano I play, (and it happens on any instrument I choose as well), sounds off pitch a tiny bit from the mix. I've looked for a way to disable both the pitch and modulation wheel to test and see if that would work, but I don't know how to do that.
Is there a way to "reset" everything? Maybe just reload sounds and see if that does it?
I very rarely have to screw with the nuts and bolts of this thing, so I forget how to do this. Also a complete reset would change all of the other parameters I have on there that I will possibly forget how to put back. *sigh*.

What would be the best thing I could do?

Here's a thought - if the aftertouch is set to "modulation" and you play heavy ... you MAY be triggering a mod effect with key pressure.

Hey!
I'm not sure , but I think the Mod and Pitch wheels are in fact classic variable resistor ,like the ones for volume control. That means is a carbon surface and a kind of brush for changing the resistence value when we move the wheels.Sometime that carbon surface can get dirty or even broked. So, I should try a little contact spray for electronics on it.I have a little problem with the pitch...sometime is jumping to fast from a value to another, I should open the keyboard and take a look someday...

Is this the SD1 or SD1Plus? Regardless, please try reinstalling OS4.0C ... might be the OS is unstable due to ... (many things could have caused this). It should fix the reset values for pitch (centered) and Modulation (all the way DOWN - NOT centered). Also, your voice maps should be re-aligned giving you the original Piano sound from the factory.

Thanks,

AJ

Thanks AJ. I'm bringing in the board to Montreal for cleaning and replacing some contacts. I'll copy down your response and have him do that as well. The only thing is I don't want it erasing my styles, especially my imported ones w/ arrangements from my old Korg I2. Will any of those steps do that?
