On SD1 "pattern edit", I cannot select timbers for different tracks for fill sections unlike for main sections (like "arrange A").

I want arrange A to use standard drum kit, arrange B to use tabla kit, and fill 1 to use tabla kit. After recording the pattern using an external midi sequencer, I get sounds for arrange A and arrange B as expected. If I press fill 1 while arrange A is running I hear tabla sounds. But if I press fill 1 while arrange B is running, I get standard drum sounds. This is not what I wanted (and expected).

Did Ketron intentionally did this, or is this a software bug (OS 4.0a)? According to the owner's manual fill section should have the same abilities as main sections. In the "pattern edit" chapter there is no mention of any difference between fill sections and main sections.

Sorry, I made a typo in the second paragraph of my message. When I press fill 1 while arrange A is running I get standard drum kit sounds, and when I press fill 1 while arrange B is running I get tabla sounds.

What I want is fill 1 to use tabla sounds irrespective of what main section I am playing.

Dimu,

The design of the FILLs using the sounds of the current Arrangement (A, B, C or D) was done deliberately for the following reason:

In real life, when a band performs a FILL, the musicians generally use the same instruments that they were playing prior to initiating the fill.

Thanks,

AJ

AJ,

If Ketron designed fill sections that way I agree with it and the reason behind the decision (as explained by you) makes sense.

It would be nice if the owner's manual also mentioned about that so that the user may not spend time trying to do something that SD1 is not designed for.

However, if anybody else also wants to do what I was trying to do, there is a solution: use Drum 2 track for fill 1 section with the drum kit of your choice.

Thanks,

-Dimu
