Hi,
hubby & I are off a week's holiday to visit the family. A whole week without the internet (eek.) And just when we get our own forum.
Isn't it great when your music software is in a laptop & you can take it with you hassle free..
Just in case I don't get to check in again before we leave, I'll catch up again in a week or so.

best wishes
Rikki

HI Rikki,
Have a great holiday.
We are fortunate in the US the many if not most of the RV parks we stay at have WI-FI.
I just turn on the laptop and it auto grabs their wi-fi and there you all are.
I am in the motorhome all this week out in the boonies but I was able to take you all with me so I am not having withdrawals
Best to you and yours,
Bebop

Enjoy your stay in Melbourne Rikki. It's my hometown so I know it well. What part of Melbourne are you staying in?

It will most likely be cold, wet and windy this time of year, not particularly inviting. But there are lots of good restaurants there to take shelter in.

Hi Bebop,
would luv a motorhome. ( you lucky thing ). Unfortunately hubby's confined permanently to a wheelchair, so not the most practical form of holidaying for us. We basically have to motel it, or use one of our timeshare weeks.

More & more Aussies seem to be taking to the roads again though, we're starting to see quite a few motorhomes nowadays, plus caravans are back on the roads again.

best wishes

Hi Nigel,
parents live in Blackburn.
Weather was great considering it's mid winter.
Think we'll have to stay away from the place, everytime we go down something goes wrong with him. Poor fella , spent all but a couple of days in bed. I think he's jinxed.
Nice to get back home in one piece. haa haa.

best wishes
Rikki

Great to see you back Rikki. I do know Blackburn out on the Maroondah Hwy. I had family who lived in Mitcham just down the road.

I better translate ( Australian -> US ) for BEBOP.

Caravan = Trailer

ie. caravan park = trailer park

Though they tend to be more of a vacation accomodation like motorhomes as opposed to a permanent living situation as they are in the US. And they are only around 20 - 25 ft and are pulled by the average family car on the streets. That is something I haven't seen once ( I don't think ) in the 16 years I've lived in California. It seems that motorhomes have pretty much replaced them here since the 60s. Trailers here now are all small mobile homes that pretty much require a truck to move them.

Hi Rikki

Winter in Australia? Show's you how much I remember from geography class.

The idea of winter actually sounds good to me right now. I'm a Wisconsin boy transplanted to Florida and while I like the sun I do like cooler weather.

Winter sounds so refreshing after being in a traffic jam on the way to a gig and having my car konk out on me with a heat index of 110F.

Anyway, Australia always struck me as an interesting place. Maybe me and the wife will have to check it out sometime.

Best
Scott

Yes Scott you really should go there sometime. You'd have a lot of fun. And yes the seasons are opposite to here. Christmas is in mid summer unlike being winter here in the US. So it would be best to travel there when it is winter here because it will be summer there so you could be assured of getting fine weather while you travel around.

The Australian continent is the size of the US so allow some time to travel around when you go.
