Could you please clarify a few points.
You say that the OS for the E500OR can be
fixed by a nice Update by Roland. Does this
update actually exist? (If it doesn't, I doubt Roland would update a OS for a discontinued keyboard).

*** YES it can be updated. It have a flash Rom memory as far as I can remeber.so, it can have new functions too. last update was in 1998. I ment it can be fixed but Roland would never do that.

I realize that the G1000/EM2000 do not
have the complete oriental sound soundset
of the E500OR. Why the heck Roland doesn't
come up with a replacement for the E500OR,
(or at least a JV/SRX expansion card)is beyond me.

*** didn't I ask that before in one of the older posts and you replyed by telling me not to put my hopes on Roland?...Remeber?

You had mentioned in another post that
the "EM50 OR" has ALL the oriental sounds
and drumkits of the "E500 OR". Is this correct?

*** YES

Thanks, Vic83,
for clearing up all my questions, and confirming that the E500OR has a flawed
OS that will probably never be fixed.
And YES, I recall telling you not to get
your hopes up for Roland to make an expansion
card with ALL of their oriental sounds.
But, I was just hoping that Roland would read
our posts to see that there ACTUALLY IS a demand for such a thing.
I, personally, would prefer to buy Roland
or Yamaha due to their wide distribution
and support rather than GEM or KETRON.

Sammer,
If you live in the US, BEWARE of buying
from overseas(see Arranger Forum posts).
The keyboard warrantee will only be covered
in Europe, not the US! Spending a little more and buying local is a much safer choice.
A good store will match the lowest (in US),
price you can find.
When you say GEM WK5, do you mean "PK5 ORIENTAL". I have never heard of a GEM WK5.
If you are considering the PK5OR, I would
recommend the Yamaha PSR-550 over it, due to
superior sound quality, and floppy drive so
you can add new styles. The Yamaha will not
have the Nay, Mizmar, and Bouzouki sounds
of the PK5OR, but you can program the Yamaha
to sound like most of the other GEM oriental
sounds.
Good Luck.

Vquestor, Thanks a lot for the warning, I was about to buy from over seas, I found this place in Germany which has unbelievable prices. they have the PK5 for $300 and WK2 for $700 and X1 for like $1500, that's about half price then if I buy it here in the US. and the only place i know of in the US is maqam.com and to be honest there over priced specially when it comes to the the German web site that i found.

And yes i did mean the PK5 not WK5. sorry about that.

Well thanks for the info, but i thought that Gem comes with 5 year warranty no matter where you buy it from, I guess I need to check a little more on that.

Thanks,
Sammer
