Hi Guys,

Do any of you use the EXR-3 and if so have you had any problems with the flash drive.

I am moving files across and the mix is all wrong and some files are showing as wrong file. Even though I am using the keyboard as my midi port on my PC. All the files are less than 14 tracks so I cant figure it out.

Any suggestions greatly apprechiated.

Carl,
I just got my EXR-3, and I have been looking through my manual but haven't found the part you need yet... Get your manual out and search through the Flash Memory area. I know that I read something about "corrupted" flash area and it explained how to fix it. I'll bet that is your problem. I'll keep looking and if I find it, I'll reply again....
Good luck!
Charlie

I looked at it this morning and your were right.
It allows you to reset the flash memory to factory settings.
It's working like a charm now.

Thanks for that.

Carl,
Excellent! Glad I was able to help. I've only had my EXR-3 for two weeks and so far I really like it. What about you?

The sounds are really good.

I hav'nt taken it on the road yet so I'm anxious to know how it sounds through a rig.

No, I am still in the "decision making" part of that. I'm seriously looking at getting the Logitech Z-5500 sound system as Gary Diamond (TravlinEasy) has suggested. I'm VERY new in the OMB arena and am just learning how to hook my EXR-3 to my laptop via MIDI. Once I learn how to get the music playing the way I want on my EXR-3, then I'll get the sound system.

What are you using for an amp and effects?

I'm mixing everything through cakewalk on my pc using the exr-3 as a midi source.
Any effects I use carry over to the Keyboard.

Very good so far

Ah-ha...
You must be a piano player. I'm not. For me to "input" a song through a program like Cakewalk would take forever because I couldn't do it in Real Time, I would have to enter one note at a time and that is WAY too frustrating and time consuming.

So, I get my music from someone else's creation and then edit it. I download MIDIs from whatever source I can find.

Maybe some day I'll get good enough on the piano to do it.

Not at all Charlie,

I'm a guitar player.

Just after years of using Midi it gets easier.
With Cakewalk you can drop in with real time.
So you can play anything you want one note at a time.
It also alows you to rip in tracks from Cd's so if you like a drum track or bass line you can steal it and do what you want with it.

Whoa! I can't believe it! I'm also a guitar player.
So I need to learn all this MIDI stuff and in a hurry! Wow, this sounds awesome. I didn't think that Cakewalk was what I would need so I was planning on getting Band In a Box. Are you familiar with it?
Tell me more about Cakewalk. Exactly which version do you use and how do you go about creating a song from scratch to fit your own personal style?
Thanks, Carl
Charlie

I'm using Cakewalk 2000.
It comes with on board synths so you can use their synths if your recording . they have a synth rack and I mostly use the DX synth.

You can download a midi file that you like and simply record over the tracks or keep them.
You can then record audio tracks for your guitar vocal ect.

It has built in sound effects and Amps for your guitar but I use my own sound prosesser.

You cam mix down to MP3 or wav when your finsihed so you have an excellent CD quailty finshed product which you can then burn to a cd.

The best place to buy is on Ebay. You will get it at half the price.

Band in a box is a good product but with cakewalk you are getting a digital studio that can do anything any studio can do.

It's easy enough to use once you get into it.

Just download somthing with loads of tracks and record over them.
You can start from scratch but why bother when someone else has done all the work for you.

Carl,
This is GREAT... I already have a MIDI mixer called Power Tracks by PG Music... will it do the same thing as Cakewalk? I think it will.

I have looked for Cakewalk 2000 and I can't find it anywhere, even on eBay, they have things like Pyro4, Sonar, and Music Creator Pro, but no Cakewalk 2000. I wouldn't have a clue which one I would need. What kind of price are we looking at... that might be the way to find it. Is it $50 or $200?

Thanks,
Charlie
