I would say NORD units have a better
H clone. It sort of lacks the Deep Leslie Gusto.
I agree with Cassp...it sound like a "synthetic" Hammond...actually, even Korg's CX-3 dedicated clonewheel isn't there yet.
Nord's C1/C2 are the closest I've played, other than the Hammond XK3c (and to a lesser extent, the XK-1), which feels, sounds, and plays like a real Hammond. The multiple key contacts, on the XK3c and a real B-3, are what make the difference as well.
I play a beautifully maintained Hammond B-3/Leslie, sometimes twice a week, at a jam session with my buds...the high end is where the Korg, and most sims, lose it...the Nord is much closer, but also loses points because of the buttons instead of drawbars.
A B-3 (and XK-3c/XK-1) scream at the top end, but in a much more earthy and organic (no pun intended) way than the Korg (and the Nord), which sound artificial.
I also play an XK-1 occasionally at a friend's studio.
The player in this demo, doesn't seem to have played a real B-3 very much, as the mixture of harmonics on a real B makes for a different approach, both in chord voicing, and phrasing...much like a Rhodes is voiced and phrased differently than an acoustic piano.
Perhaps if the player in the vid phrased and voiced differently, it would sound a bit more authentic.
The Hammond XK3c is still the boss.
