Have you recently discovered a 'new *' song that you're now interested in learning, or have recently learned and now added to your arranger song performance repertoire?
Please tell something about the song, how you discovered it, the unique quality about the song(s) that appeals to you, what arranger style you use for it, and perhaps a YouTube example link of that song as well.
* new can mean either a new song on the charts, or simply a song 'new to you'.

LOL - quite the assignment
The recent thing I've done was to 'revisit' some old songs that I hadn't played in a long time. There were a fair amount, but I don't have time to complete the assignment right now

My wife (and dou partner) is very big on us learning new stuff that's actually on the charts while I prefere the "classics"
Anyways we just leaned "Cuando me enamoro" as sung by Enrique Iglesias (Julio's son). The song is a big hit on Spanish language pop radio. I even learned it by ear- I'm usually use lead sheet/sheet music but this one wasn't available in print.
The Tyros 2 West Coast Guitar Pop slowed down a bit, along with a Latin percussion loop sounds pretty darn close to the original. It's always nice when you find exactly the style you need!
I wish I new how to provide a youtube link. I'll have to ask my 7 year old daughter how

Assignment?! Ok JIm, I'll give you an INCOMPLETE grade for now. Paper due by the end of the week, and no dog ate my paper excuses.
Seriously, my intention was not as any kind of assignment but to simply encourage forum discussion about what we've been doing recently musically, and giving fellow members ideas of music to add to their repertoire as well.
That said, here are a couple of songs I've recently added to my arranger keyboard performance repertoire:

Out Of Work Working Man's Bar When The Sun Goes Down Sweet Home Chicago El Cumbanchero Lets Never Stop Falling In Love Tequila Sunrise It's Five O'clock Somewhere Oh Marie Of Marie As Good Once As I Ever Was All Night Long You're The Reason Last Cheater's Waltz I'm Pretty Good At Drinkin' Beer He Stopped Loving Her Today I Like My Women A Little On The Trashy Side Walk Through This World With Me Hot Hot Hot Dancin' With A Man Some Beach Rolling With The Flow Fannie Mae Unchain My Heart Teach Me Tonight When A Man Loves A Woman Nearness of You Irish Stew Saving All My Love For You Rum And Coca-Cola Have You Ever Seen The Rain
Those are just off the top of my head--songs that I've added over the last six months. There are more, but I would have to get the keyboard out of the van to determine the titles and it's too damned cold outside to do it.
Cheers,
Gary

YMCA I will survive Brown Girl in the Ring Oh when the saints Hot and Cold With or without you Pianoman I was made for loving you Pokerface Don't stop beliving Rivers of Babylon Norwegian footballers version of Oh when the saints.

Well. Since I have been playing in Church, my songs are all contemporary Christian music.
The Change - Steven Curtis Chapman Born Again - Third Day Word of God Speak - Mercy Me If we ever needed it you, Lord it's now - Amazing Grace (new arrangement) - Chris Tomlin How Many Kings
Now, THAT is country. That man does not make a bad record. I consider him, not George Strait, as the king of country music. I like George but AJ is straight up die-hard classic country and his sound is just more "country."
That steel guitar and fiddle are awesome, as is his vocal.
Hungry Like the Wolf - Duran Duran My Life Is Empty Without You Babe - Supremes Chattanooga Shoe Shine Boy - Various people have done that one Some Kinda Wonderful - Grand Funk Railroad Flip, Flop and Fly - Downchild Blues Band

Eddie, one of Johnnie's favorite all-time singers was Kenny Rankin. He was on the Tonight Show over 20 times, and Johnnie said his version of "Here's That Rainy Day" was his all-time favorite.
I looked for it a minute ago, but could only find a 30 second clip.
Kenny's version and all his material, for that matter is world class!
