Ketron XD-series expansion available... and this time you can obtain the kit and install yourself (a lot easier than SD1 where this is not an option).

* FLASH CHIP stores new voices (SD1 quality). New voices are accessed either by pressing ETHNIC&USER VOICE (Arabic sounds) or USER VOICE and the group (Western Sounds)... depending on what voice/voices were loaded from the Hard disk.
* Huge Hard Disk (for new sounds and new Yamaha, Roland, Korg and Technics styles). These styles also contain new Drum loops and grooves to bring them to KETRON standards.

* If you have the XD9/3 with HD .. $400.00

Pretty much an XD9/XD3 with the following standard:-
* SD1 Sounds in most categories (Stereo Grand, Authentic Strings, Sax...).
* All the styles found in the SD1-EXP(i.e styles from Roland, Yamaha, Korg, Technics) carefully balanced with new live loops.
* Huge Hard disk STANDARD with the Bonus styles, sounds.
* Extra ROM addded to load SD1 contemp. sounds, Arrabic and Turkish sounds (all residing in the Disk... user chooses what they want to load). Sounds are accessed by pressing either ETHNIC and USER VOICE (for the Arrabic sounds) or USER VOICE and the corresponding voice group for the SD1 sounds. New styles will re-use some of the loops within the XD9.

I am interested in purchasing the upgrade. I already have an 8 MB orchestral card that I guess will have to do away with. Will this have all the sounds that are with the Oriental and Turkish cards that Ketron has produced?

WIth the $400 I would get a new flash card that I would install. Any other hardware changes?

What is the total number of new sounds and number of new styles? Any new drum sounds?

Also, I already have a hard disk on my Vega. What are my options?

Same as standard XD9 with the following extra material.

* SD1 Sounds within HD that can be loaded into installed 8/16MB RAM memory card. These are accessed via User Voice (Page 2/2) or Ethnic (Page 3/5, 4/5 and 5/5). Kinda your SD1 with 'speakers'?

* XD9 Turkish and Vega Sounds within HD that can be loaded into installed RAM card. Sounds are memorized even when unit is turned off. Only need to reload if you want to load new sound banks.

* Bonus styles from Yamaha, Korg, Roland (same as SD1Plus EXP) plenty for you to choose from and load into Pattern Memory (if you want Pattern Expansion, this can be done too).

* New Hard disk management with quick loading time for large files.

* Keys slightly more weighted than standard XD9

The ROM expansion is still 8MB. It's the way the data is stored in the card that is slightly enhanced - Compressed; hence more data is stored on the 8MB card. Nick_h, since you already have the Orchestral, you'll just get the oriental and turkish sounds and the styles (and a price reduction ofcourse), but check email for more details. I'll need your HD (unless you want to pay for a newer one).
