Sorry to pester people regarding obsolete keyboards but I've managed to track down a WK8 finally and I would like to tidy it up a bit cosmetically starting with the keys and then maybe the plastic screen cover which is a little scratched, I realise that it will be virtually impossible to track spare parts from new but I was wondering if anybody knows if the WK8 uses the same materials as all the other WK models, so say if I found a broken WK4 / 6 I could use the keys from these?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Danny,

The difference between the models mentioned are centralized to the main PCB, but things like keys, button switches, etc. are interchangeable.

BTW, the keybed is a FATAR action and it shouldn't be difficult for a keyboard repair facility to order the appropriate keys.

Also I know there is a product that can polish out fine scratches on plastic. I'll try to find the name of the product and report back, or you could do a search and probably come up with something.

Best Regards,

Dave

Hi and thanks so much for the replies, I tried to purchase that polish but it says it's not able to deliver to my UK address

I don't know of any similar products I can order from the UK unless anybody else knows?

Thanks,
Danny

Hi again, I've managed to find a UK retailer for this polish, just wanted to know which version of the polish should I get for what I need, bottle 1, 2 or 3?

Thanks again,
Danny

Danny,

I've heard toothpaste will work on scratched plastic...even on Cd's.

Not sure about clear plastic, but it does work very well on plastic keys.

You can do a Google search on what type to use etc...

I hope this helps.

Ian

Plain old paste type toothpaste. Not anything fancy like gel or extra whitening, etc. Just old fashioned paste.

Exactly, Dave...thanks for the clarification...there should be some more info on the 'Net as well.

I know it works on keys, as I've used it.

Thanks guys will look into that option too.

I've found this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Displex-Display-...88977010&sr=1-1

I know it's quite cheap, would it be appropriate?
