Aloha,

Made the leap and got an L1 with two bass units yesterday.

Intial tests are nothing less than jaw dropping... and my back is feelin better already!

A few questions for other L1/Tyros users:

1) What is the general concensus on Tyros Hook Up? Just R/L single out to Channel 1 on the L1 Orrrrrrr do the left and right outs to Ch. 1 & 2 on the BOSE?

2) From one post it said...
"Note that spacing two B1s on the floor with the L1 Power Stand between them does not meet this criterion. That arrangement would reduce the mid-bass that radiates to the left and right sides."

3) So you can have a B1 then the Tower then another B1 all like in a row and you must have the B1 subs stacked on one side or the other?

4) There really is no total 'line out' from all channels and
No way to connect a CD/Digital recorder?

5) On stage where do you place yours?

Thanks very much!

I have 4 L1 double bass units and a compact. I haven't tested the T4 yet, but on the other yamahas, the design should be just use the left mono output, but there seems to be things missing in the sound, like almost the right part of the effects, but when you use the left and right, you sometimes get some weird stereo phasing or canceling of sounds or frequencies

I had very poor performance using one Bose L1...Yamaha's stereo sampling doesn't collapse well to mono...the instruments are designed to work in stereo.

I used two Bose L1 systems in stereo...absolutely the best sound I've had with the Tyros and PSR.

Expensive? Yep. But you only have to buy a PA once, and with the Bose, you don't need a separate monitor system.

You guys really piss me off sometimes... and this is not aimed at any one person... and its sad to see the forum de-generate into what it has...

Please let me be blunt. I don't give a flying F about this whole bashing of Bose, the constant mono/stereo debate etc.
and BTW after talking with musicians I believe that stuff is a non-issue... at least for what _I want_. I have a full PA system that would/will thump you... that ain't what THIS is for. To each tool its own work!

Sooooo please either answer my questions or take it outside...

I don't want to hear the BS that... oh I/you made a misstake... BOSE sucksm oh you need to spend another 2 grand... yada yada....
IT IS WHAT IT IS and you either have answers or ya don't.

I DID NOT ASK FOR OPINION

Thank you

Here's what I've found so far this AM:

>1) What is the general concensus on Tyros Hook Up? Just R/L single out to Channel 1 on the L1 Orrrrrrr do the left and right outs to Ch. 1 & 2 on the BOSE?<

Some say Ch. 1 & 2 from Tyros L&R out some say go into 3 and 4 and EQ on the KB some say take the L/R out into Ch. 1 of the L1... will try all and see.

2) From one post it said...
"Note that spacing two B1s on the floor with the L1 Power Stand between them does not meet this criterion. That arrangement would reduce the mid-bass that radiates to the left and right sides.">

TRUE. Bose recommends that they be stacked one side or the other of the L1 tower and as close to the back wall as poss.

>3) So you can have a B1 then the Tower then another B1 all like in a row and you must have the B1 subs stacked on one side or the other?>

NOPE

>4) There really is no total 'line out' from all channels and
No way to connect a CD/Digital recorder?<

No and no... take the out of the KB? or use a mixer like the mackie or alexis?

<5) On stage where do you place yours?>

Some say it don't matter... some put it directly behind... some just off to the left or right and a little behind.

ONE THING is for certain... this ain't your Daddy's PA!

Thanks very much for info from those using the L1 with a Tyros or PSR!

PS: DON'T FORGET TO VOTE!

@TP123 I use the Bose L1 Model II with two Bass units with my Motif XS8 (waiting for my XF8 to arrive I play small rooms and lounges and place the Bose behind me. I stack the two Bass units on top of each other. I go mono out of the Motif into the Bose Tonematch - you don't mention this piece of equipment. I highly recommend getting the Tonematch. It's a wonderful compliment to your system. There's a General Keyboard preset and the sound is amazing.
