the legendary Yamaha PSR 8000. This brought back very happy memories.

Yep, that was one terrific arranger, and in my opinion, the one that showed Yamaha was taking the arranger market very seriously.

I had two of them for several years, only moving on because the two variation styles were limiting to me.

Sold one, and gave one to a buddy of mine, and it's still going strong.

Thanks for the memories.

Ian

My 2 cents, those were the days when Yamaha was actually totally focused on producing serious arranger keyboards. The PSR 9000 being my favourite.

Then disaster, the Tyros series comes along and features like the Sampler were thrown away. Now we just see incremental upgrades over the last model.

Yamaha have lost their innovation in my opinion. Ooooh how I love my VL-70M and those days when Yamaha was pumping with creativity.

James.

How was the 9000 sampler any more serious than the Tyros sampler? Did it allow for Akai import, for instance?
