If anyone has the link(s) to where many suggestions were made (on this forum) as to what needs to be updated on the X1, please guide me to it. Links to other sites too are welcomed.

I want to make sure I have not missed anything trivial to date before release.

In addition to the above, I would like to see the "sync start" turn off after the style/pattern has started, i.e. Korg i series implementation.

I know this might be irrelevant, or impossible, but:
- Please add the possibility of selecting your favorite sounds from different sound banks and make your own “User Sound Bank” that you can load at the startup.
In the current software version, you can only load one bank at a time even if you like 1 sound out of 20 in this bank.

Also are these updates included on the Oriental OS or is this going to be just for the regular OS? I sure hope that you are taking our inputs into the Oriental OS upgrade.

I will tell you what I wish for, you tell me whats doable:

-Capability to build my own 16MB SND KIT from current kits or from new samples (mixing and matching)
-When EDIT USER VOICE and save...somewhere there is should tell me which ORIGINAL SOUND I edited to ge the current user voice. For example if I take a GUITAR BANK 4 sound 8, and make edit into a USR VOICE that sounds more like an OBOE....when I use that USR VOICE the only way I can tell what it came from is if I take all the parameters back to default!

-Any way to utilize the Flash CARD along with the 16MB RAM to end up with 24MB SND KIT (for example to have all my drum kits in the 16MB kit plus some samples, and on the Flash card only have sounds) This way the patterns will only use the internal 16MB but in truth I have 24MB worth of samples uploaded at once.

-Ability to upload one user voice at a time from disk, instead of the entire uservoice bank. This way if I like a user voice that a friend made, he can simply send me that and I can upload it as an addition to my collection, instead of having to upload his entire bank vs. my entire bank. (for one voice it might be easy to say well just let him tell u how he editted and u do that on ur X1....but what if its 10 voices, or 20 that I want, yet I want to keep my other 50 programmed user voices)

-Anyway you can add "attack" "delay" "resonance" ... and other waveform parameters into PROGRAM EDIT...this way I can actually edit my PROGRAM SOUND itself (this way from one program sound, I can make alot more program sounds using the same user voice and internal voice and so on)

-PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE....can you make one of the 4 OUTPUTS on the X1 be MIC OUTPUT ONLY.....PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEE. This way I can use the internal affect processor but EQ my MIC Seperate from my Keyboard. The way it is right now, is OUTPUTS 3 and 4 if I use them for my arranger, one has no effects and the otherone has only reverb. Can the outputs be in such a way to allow us to assign anything to them (DRUMS, BASS, CHORDS....MIC, RIGHT...LEFT...) but keep the effects that are used for that part the same? PLEASSEEEEE ITS SOOOO IMPROTANT FOR ANYONE WHO DOES ONE MAN SHOW !!!!! I love the my vocal harmonizer , but I cant use it, cause now I go with my mic direct to the mixer (not using the X1) cause I want it to have its OWN EQ and Effects so no harmonizer for me unless you can do that.
=> ANYONE KNOW OF A BETTER WAY TO SAY WHAT AM TRYING TO SAY HERE ?

-ONE MORE VERY VERY VERY IMPORTANT IMPLEMENTATION => PLEASE ALLOW US ON PATTERN EDIT TO ASSIGN ANY SOUND TO ANY TRACK. PLEASEEEEEEE I KNOW THIS CAN BE DONE.

IF YOU DONT DO ANYTHING ELSE PLEASE DO THE LAST TWO I ASKED. IF I THINK OF ANYTHING MORE I WILL CERTAINLY LET YOU KNOW.

I THINK THIS IS FAIR TO ALL X1 USERS!!
We have been like forgotten in this world..And a new O.S will make every X1 user prowd to have a X1 ,cause X1 already is a Nice Keyboard...So why not do it better..

Well i was going to write what i want in the new Os for the Oriental version,but Mosiqar named them before me,thats becase we use the X1 in the same way...

Is it possible to have a flash card with 16mb and sample a drumkits to use in the patterns???? that will be nice...

Maged: Based on the hardware structure, we cannot currently provide the capability of selecting files fro various voice banks.

Mosiqaar: I am looking into your requests. Some will require hardware changes ... but I will get back to you on a more detailed email.

I'm not sure if this is possible but the biggiest dissatisfaction I have with my X1 is the inability to read patterns (styles)direct from floppy disk. Another needed improvement is in the way the rotary speaker effect works. At present when one triggers the solw/fast effect you have to let the keys up and repress them before the change takes place. In order to get a more realistic "leslie" effect one should be able to trigger the effect and have it activate while holding a down chord or note.

Thanks AJ your help is much appreciated. I hate to let go of a keyboard I worked so hard to setup to my taste, yet some of the things I asked for are really crucial for my line of work, so I hope you can do something about it.

AJ, how about a downloadable software from Ketron web site that allows us to select different sounds from different banks? You guys must have something like that in order for you to be able to make sound banks!

here's a couple of things that I would like my x1 to be able to do:

1- the abbility to create my own snd (i just bought a pa1x for that specific reason)
2-the abbility to save user voices separately instead loading a whole bank

Mr. AJ: I would just love to see you add the feature for the ability of STEP RECORDING for user styles. For fast drum and percussion rolls that slowly increase or decrease in volume, or to place notes in proper time, or the ability to increase or decrease the sustain is much easier to do with step recording. I bought my x1 strictly for using as an arranger and to be able to custom make my own styles. And I am having trouble making them recording in real time.

Mr. AJ: If those volume buttons that are used for saving quarter tuned scales, were also assigned to the 12 individual notes for on/off quarter tuning that would be great. It would be just like having a quarter tune feature on the pannel like the vega!!! This would be a the best upgrade for the oriental x1!!! Thank you!!!

Here is an addition to my list AJ:

-When editing a user voice...Can u try to allow us to simply select a new sound from the internal sounds to replace the one that was edited?
In other words, if I edit a Sax sound with , then save it in a user voice. Now instaed of having to go chose trumpet sound, go to edit and select same parameters Idid for the sax. Why cant I simply go to the SAX user voice, replace the SAX sample with the Trumpet sample, and save it to a new location!
That will make life much easier.

Dear AJ, is it possible in the new OS to have a new chord recognition able to detect chords only when three or more notes are played?This makes it possible to play one or two note variation with the left hand without causing a chord change. The best would be to be able to play a bass part mono with no change of the chord.

I am also still patiently waiting for the new X1 OS Release.
To tell you the truth I am not very optimistic.. however let me inject a couple of wishes too (which I hope might have been already proposed by someone else so that they may be already included in the new OS).

Wish No. 1
The ability of "accelerando / ritardando", i.e. increasing or decreasing tempo by a certain % over a certain number of measures.
This function could be activated for instance by pressing two buttons simultaneously (for example the Arrange Buttons A and B to accelerate and C and D to slow down).
Possibly the parameters (% and number of measures) could be customized by the user in the "Arrange Mode".

Wish No. 2
A Tap function to set the tempo.
May be the Count/Pause/Restart Buttont could be used for this too?

This can be accomplished by going to ARRANGER MODE, PAGE 2/2 and setting the CHRD. MODE (F6) to EASY1 or FINGER1.

thanks for your replay to Gigi.I have now changed to Gigi1
I have tested what you say with both OS 3.2a and 4.0a but unfortunatly the X1 doesn't do what I am looking for.
For instance: split on and style running in fingered mode playing an F chord; if you play a single note on the left split, the chord changes and on the display shows the corresponding major chord. ( playing an A note cause the display to change in Amajor chord and you hera a new chord)
The feature I am looking for is already present in the pianist mode where if you play a single or a double note the running chord doesn't change; it changes only if you play at least 3 note at the same time on the whole keyboard.
I hope it is now more clear and I send my best greetings to you from Italy.

Hi Gigi,
I also like adding some walking notes with my left hand when I play and I like your suggestion about chords changing only if three or more notes are played.
So I tried the various modes.

In Pianist mode, the chord behaves the way
you indicated (the chord changes only if three notes are played).

In easy mode (1 and 2), the whole accompainiment changes based on one note (major) or two notes (minor, 7th, etc.) depending on the two notes interval.

In fingered modes 1 and 2 the display shows the chord changing when you press another note, and it goes to major, but it sounds to me that what is played is not quite the full accompaniment chord as if you are in easy mode.

For our purposes, this is not really as good as when the chord is maintained (pianist mode), but at least -in a quick change- it is not as evident like changing the accompaniment entirely as happens in easy mode if you walk the left hand.

May be AJ knows if/which other settings may have to be changed.
If not, let's hope that Ketron and AJ will consider and implement your suggestion in the next version of the OS.
