Hi all. My friend just purchased a new Yamaha PSR-3000, replacing his aging PSR-740. However, he is new to smart media card and USB flash drives, so he called me over to ask me how to save / load his styles / songs, etc.

However, I have some qestions too, to you guys PSR-3000 owners:

1) The manual states that you need a Smart Media card which is 3.3V not 5V - What exectly is that? I never heard of this figures before, and going to any store (Staples, etc.) don't say on the cards 3v or 5v??

2) Can I use a regular USB drive (SanDisk mini cruiser, for example) to store information? The manual (pg. 195) says that only certain kinds of USB storage devices can be used, and for more info look at http://www.yamahapkclub.com/ - but I don't find any useful information there.

Can you please help me? Can you share your own experiance?

Thanks a million!

I use a Sandisk Mini Cruser 256mb + the supplied USB Floppy Drive connected through a 4 X Splitter into my PSR3000.
The 3K won't accept more than 2 USB devices connected into the splitter at one time.

I do not have an answer for your smart media voltage question.
