Hi,

I've been finding it hard to track down a GEM WK8, maybe it's just difficult to get hold of one in the UK?

I have a lot of software for the WX/WK series and I do miss certain aspects of the GEM that I think unique.

I actually really like the design of the WK8, it looks beautiful, I think it's one of the most attractive looking arrangers out there physically.

Even though I thought it only had average to decent styles in the main, it did also have some odd excellent ones, I still think GEM's had the best Latin styles or at least as good as Ketron's. Have you heard SambaDance on the GEM WK8? Talking about House Music, that style is a perfect combination a House beat with a mixture of Latin, really does sound superb.

I thought the drum kits were great on the WK, they was a uniqueness about them.

If Karaoke is anybody's thing, the GEM did it best I feel. If you play a standard smf in a GEM it sounds pretty naff but put it a song created from the huge GEM specific library then it comes alive, it really is lifelike, shame the lyrics had a lot of spelling mistakes lol

I did have a lot of fun with the WK and it's a good second board to have because I wouldn't use it at all like i'm using the T3 so it's unique enough to own. I am sure that they're going for a good price somewhere, i'd even consider trading my PA1x for a mint condition WK8!

Here's a little glimps, there's a latin style in the middle of this demo that's really good, it's not the style I was talking about though.

Thanks for the reply and I have replied also.

Ideally, I have really set my mind now in trying to find somewhere that would exchange my Korg PA1x for a WK8 or Genesys but not having much luck, I've looked everywhere and I don't think there's any retailers in the UK that would have these keyboards. I don't even think the retailers that I originally got my WK deals with GEM any longer.

Well that's for sure because GEM went out of business a few years ago so they arent around to deal with.

No what I meant Nigel was retailers selling them as used, eg, if retailers were taking them in from customers as part exchange, that sort of thing.

Hi all,

It has certainly proven difficult to find a WK8 (or Genesys), however, if there is anybody in the UK who would like to trade one of those for a Korg PA1X in excellent condition then please let me know, likewise if anybody knows a retailer that has them second hand them let me know also, thanks very much for reading.

Danny.
