Two of you responded to my original post, which along with your responses got lost in the recent mess. I would appreciate your reponses once again. To refresh, my issue involves a sudden and unpredictable timbre change. This affects multiple patches, sounds like everything becomes extremely bright and mettalic, and happens all of a sudden. I have to power down to reset and sometimes that doesn't even work.

It sounds like something serious is wrong with you synth.. You should get it checked/repaired... I have never heard of any errors like this before.. Sounds wrong to me
