First off of course, why the same 80gb?

If and when I buy the Audya4 I will want/need to upgrade it to today's standard of 1TB
why my fellow synthzoners you may ask?
Because I want to put all my mp3's in there, all 800 gigs. So ALL my music is in 1 box

now my concern is... Can the Audya handle 1TB?
Will there be performance, boot, streaming issues?

Did Ketron stay with 80gb to save $40 on each?

Ketron please let me know as this minuscule drive is really a joke IMHO

Thank God! You had us worried for a minute that you might actually go ahead and buy one... Tell you what, you run out of excuses, get a hold of me, and I'll try to think up some more specious reasons for you to avoid spending a ton of money... OK?

Diki

maybe it's YOU that should ask for your money back from college

"If and when".

It's not the HD or the money that will hold me back from buying BTW

These are not excuses but questions
but I understand it's hard for you to understand this

My 2 cents.... ok 80GB is tiny these days but it's still enough to store hundreds of thousands of styles and midi files. The keyboards only has 64MB of sample RAM too so it's not like that's going to use up much HDD space either.

So really why would you need any more HDD space considering the limitations of the keyboard. Other than the Audio Styles, the end user files are not exactly going to use up much space. I'd be surprised if the end user even manages to put 1GB of data on the drive.

James

BTW Lee, where did you get all those mp3 songs? Would all of those cost as much as a keyboard?

Some of the older ketrons, X1, SD1 XD9, could only read up to so many GB's. It just maybe a software/hardware issue. I'm not sure what the other keyboards mfr. read.
But I have an 80 GB Ipod with over 1600 mp3's which equals about 8gb.

no offense but have you ever heard of .WAV files?
Audya has wav/mp3 player.
Why?
For music NOT just styles

I have over 100,000 songs as I DJ as well
Audya is Not just an arranger
if it were then Ketron would leave out the dual wav player

What you need is a mp3 player with 1 or more TB harddisk, not a module or keyboard.
What the h*** are you going to use the mp3's for, karaoke?

To start off,

The 1TB is probably a desktop disk..

Where the 80 GB is a laptop disk... Laptop disks are smaller in size but they are better prepaired for external shocks and the like

At the time when the hardware of the Audya was designed, 80 GB was probably a medium size laptop HD...

If hardware producers want to overcome this problem, they need to create instruments based on Intel PC archtectue.

If the average song is 4.5MB in size.............

1024(1GB) / 4.5(1 Song) = 227(Songs) X 800GB = 182044 Songs.

182 Thousand songs ?
lol.... I think you have either been hitting to beer or the torrents hard.

GJ. And all

why ask why I have so much music. Why I need etc?
I'm a musician a DJ an entertainer.
I play all types of parties. Brazilian. Portuguese. American. Latin. Italian. Jewish. Polish. Etc
so naturally I need to have tons of music

thismodule is supposed to be a music. Workstation. Arranger. Remx. Tool. Or whatever Ketron calls it

I don't think having and needing 1tb of space is anything out of the norm. For a modern musician who is constatntly updating his repertoire

anyone serious about his music does not encode mp3's. At 128kbps. Yielding approx. 4.5. Mb

all my mp3's. Are at 320. Or wav files

I asked a simple question
was looking for a simple answer
but as usual,
the question went unanswered

what I did get....
Why do you need this?
You have over 100k mp3z?
You should get a music player instead, iPod
just another excuse
you're not gonna buy
and on and on

so my question still....
Can I upgrade an Audya to 1TB. ? Without any problems....

Simple question needing a simple ANSWER

Lee,

Curious, what do you use now? dual cd players or laptop?

I guess when you rip cd's, the format you use is wav?

I bring a Ipod basicly for background music and I have a play list for dance etc, lady gaga, etc. Is there a big difference mp3 @128kps vs a wav?

Just a thought, if you don't settle on the audya module, maybe a Midjay plus is the way to go.

Mc.

When I rip. It's either. 320 mp3. Or wav
depends if music/song is frequently played

now is there big difference between 128kbps vs wav?

Well that depends on your soundsystem
if you use logitech speakers and/or play at nursing homes
then no. No difference
but if you use a real sound system and play big top notch gigs... Then. Yes. Big difference

see this is what I mean.
MOST. Ketron users are 'older'. As seen on ALL videos. Shows etc
most play smaller gigs
most don't need or have 100 thousand mp3 files

but I do. I guess. I am a minority here
that is the problem

I want and need something that sounds great.
Like Ketron
I want and need something with huge capacity

and ye. I have laptop already. With all my music. With. serato scratch live

but now I want all my music inside the Ketron Audya4

is this too much to ask for?
To have an HD that is 2010 rather than 1997?

I guess it is too much to ask for, unfortunately

But that's not going to stop you, ad nauseam.

Lee, I've got a simple question. Just exactly WHO are you addressing these questions to? Do you think that anyone here either knows, or to be honest, even CARES in the slightest..

Isn't there someone in your life you can ask these questions of incessantly? Or would the thought of appearing like some kind of imbalanced raving lunatic actually prevent you from doing this to anyone that you could actually SEE the look of pity on their face while you rant day in, day out? I guess we have no choice but to endure your dreary excuses for not buying an Audya, but trust me....

We ARE rolling our eyes...

STFU, get an MS, go back to torrenting your brains out. Nobody CARES, son....

Diki.

I am addressing these questions to AJ. Or any Ketron employee. Or. Frank. drumremix. Or anyone who may know.

Just looking for a simple answer to a simple question
not looking to get questions as answers

just want to know the facts
not looking for controversy. Just an answer that's all

Diki. What will be your thoughts/reaction when I finally get my Audya?

Simple answer will do just fine. :-)

AJ has an email address. Look it up, spare us the pain... OK?

If you don't get an answer, keep trying. About seven or eight times a day ought to do the trick...

You are NOT asking a simple question. You are venting, plain and simple. The Audya (or anything else short of an MS) will never have everything you want. Because they don't make it for YOU. They make it for NORMAL PEOPLE

You know, people that actually BUY stuff rather than whine about it to complete strangers that don't give a toss...

If asking whether an Audya can support a 1TB drive is not a SIMPLE question. Then I don't know what is....

And perhaps getting a question answered on a forum rather than a private email would help OTHERS. But I guess not.

Cuz nobody else cares that Audya has a ridiculously small HD and not you either.... But each to his own that's cool

Not everyone is picky like me.

You've basically alienated AJ from responding to any of your posts here. I know, were it me, I'd be thinking a BIT more gratitude for whatever information he HAS given out here would be in order, but you basically took it on yourself to pillory the guy because Ketron's OS team were not working on YOUR schedule. If I were AJ, you'd be getting the silent treatment too..!

I little politeness goes a long way, lee, if you actually anticipate wanting something from somebody...

BTW, am I correct in assuming that the Audya still has USB1? You ever work out how long it takes to transfer 1TB at those rates?

Got to get the files onto the HD in the first place, don't you, lee?

And it's fairly obvious that you have no idea of what constitutes respect. Unending sarcastic comments about the 'countdown', ceaseless duplicate posts about the same unanswerable questions (are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet?), would you put up with that from your OWN kids?

It's a good job Ketron have a dealer distributor network, because, to be honest, if you bought direct from Ketron, I doubt they would sell you one, knowing how much it is going to cost them in unending technical support cost as you whine and whinge over every last thing that pops into your head...

I've got the easy answer to all your questions. BUY ONE AND FIND OUT FOR YOURSELF You already have an mp3 rig if it turns out it won't support 1TB. So at worst you would be where you are now, and at best, you can go back to using a keyboard for a DJ gig and give us a break here...

Wouldn't the way that MIGHT help our members is for you to find out the answers to what you want to know, and THEN come here and tell us? Or is that not enough fun for you..?

One million.

Put your hands over your eyes, start counting backwards... one million... nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine... nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand, nine hundred and ninety-eight... nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand, nine hundred and ninety-seven... nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand, nine hundred and ninety-six...

Post back when you get to zero, OK?
