First off of course, why the same 80gb?

If and when I buy the Audya4 I will want/need to upgrade it to today's standard of 1TB
why my fellow synthzoners you may ask?
Because I want to put all my mp3's in there, all 800 gigs. So ALL my music is in 1 box

now my concern is... Can the Audya handle 1TB?
Will there be performance, boot, streaming issues?

Did Ketron stay with 80gb to save $40 on each?

Ketron please let me know as this minuscule drive is really a joke IMHO

Thank God! You had us worried for a minute that you might actually go ahead and buy one... Tell you what, you run out of excuses, get a hold of me, and I'll try to think up some more specious reasons for you to avoid spending a ton of money... OK?

Diki

maybe it's YOU that should ask for your money back from college

"If and when".

It's not the HD or the money that will hold me back from buying BTW

These are not excuses but questions
but I understand it's hard for you to understand this

My 2 cents.... ok 80GB is tiny these days but it's still enough to store hundreds of thousands of styles and midi files. The keyboards only has 64MB of sample RAM too so it's not like that's going to use up much HDD space either.

So really why would you need any more HDD space considering the limitations of the keyboard. Other than the Audio Styles, the end user files are not exactly going to use up much space. I'd be surprised if the end user even manages to put 1GB of data on the drive.

Regards
James

BTW Lee, where did you get all those mp3 songs? Would all of those cost as much as a keyboard?

Some of the older ketrons, X1, SD1 XD9, could only read up to so many GB's. It just maybe a software/hardware issue. I'm not sure what the other keyboards mfr. read.
But I have an 80 GB Ipod with over 1600 mp3's which equals about 8gb.

no offense but have you ever heard of .WAV files?
Audya has wav/mp3 player.
Why?
For music NOT just styles

I have over 100,000 songs as I DJ as well
Audya is Not just an arranger
if it were then Ketron would leave out the dual wav player

What you need is a mp3 player with 1 or more TB harddisk, not a module or keyboard.
What the h*** are you going to use the mp3's for, karaoke?

To start off,

The 1TB is probably a desktop disk..

Where the 80 GB is a laptop disk... Laptop disks are smaller in size but they are better prepaired for external shocks and the like

At the time when the hardware of the Audya was designed, 80 GB was probably a medium size laptop HD...

If hardware producers want to overcome this problem, they need to create instruments based on Intel PC archtectue.
