Very interesting test. My wife tells me my hearing is headed for trouble especially since older family members use hearing aids, it's in the genes. I only heard the 8 KHz tone clearly and just a little bit of the 10Khz sound.

Now the surprise was my wife who hears the faint beeps of a Timex watch with an alarm that I wear. She can be in bed in the morning when my watch alarm is set for 5:10 AM. Since most mornings I awake before the alarm, I'm usually in the kitchen getting my lunch for later in the day made and having coffee. She'll yell out of the bedroom some 30 feet away saying "TURN OFF YOUR ALARM" I don't hear it with other background noise. She took the test today and to my surprise she could only hear up to 14 khz and that was a bit faint. Meanwhile my 2 dogs about jumped thru the window when they heard the highest pitches!!

And forget that Can you hear like a teenager test? I know there was no sound coming from that test. LOL

Thanks for the link,

Gary,

Think you got your hz and Khz mixed up and I think some people are hearing Tinitus and white noise. What did you say! When you are doing a hearing test you should let some run the test and you close your eyes then you cannot see them pressing the buttons expexting a sound. You should hold up your hand each time you hear a sound.

Regards

Seriously, be careful with that one. I didn't link to it because it's VERY loud.

It's sounds to me like a 17Khz sound, but they have done something to it. Possible normalized it because it's so freaking loud and not nice at all on the ears.

So if your going to listen, turn down your speakers first and then turn them up until your comfortable listing to it.

Regards
James

Weird,

using headphones, I first clicked on the 8Khz button and then jumped to 12 and then to 22K when I heard nothing.

I went down to 21, I heard a faint something, and then when I got them all in a row I realised that I couldn't easily hear above 16, but I could faintly hear the 21 Khz one. Maybe I need an equaliser.

My father hears constantly what he describes as "a stream of water running" and his mother also was very hard of hearing in her last years. So I am probably also going to be accepted in the "Say that again, son?" hall of fame soon.

Tony,

You're right--I left the K off the frequency. I'm so old I remember when it was called CPS (cycles per second) and KC (kilocycles).

Cheers,

Gary
