Hi guys,

I am so really enjoying the T3, it's incredible. Every time I want to write a review I seem to be unable to drag myself away from it, so that in itself says a lot as no other keyboard has managed to ever do that!!

Just another quick question, not so much a technical one, just out of all the thousands of converted styles for the T3, which have sounded or turned out to have converted the best?

I've tried the PA1x styles and some sound actually pretty OK and useable but some have some strange chords when simply wanting to select C chord it gives the impression that there's a mixture of other chords all rolled into one!

Hopefully there is a way to fix this or maybe just the way they were converted? I just wonder how other keyboard styles sound on the T3 if they are any better or worse, I wouldn't mind hearing what the X1 styles sound like as well!

Thanks for reading.
Danny.

The ketron styles convert ok, but the second drum / groove will not convert since is a loop. So some of the styles will not sound as full.

good luck

I could be wrong but I think the reason that some of the converted Korg styles sound wrong is because many Korg styles uses different patterns in maj, maj7 and min chords.

Thanks very much for the responses

I've managed to find two almost perfectly converted styles in which I used a lot in both the Korg and the Ketron, Korg's HalfTimeBallad & Ketron's Baroque sound almost identical and that's pleasing

As much as the T3's internal styles are incredible as they are, it would still be nice to be able to play songs with the styles you've loved in previous keyboards. I didn't think my PA1x did a good job of playing converted styles most sounded very strange whereas on the T3 a lot sound pretty good as they are!

I really am loving the T3, it has surprised me in a lot of ways.

Danny,

Head over to the PSR Tutorial site and download some of the conversions for Korg and the G-70 done by Eileen--they're fantastic.

Cheers,

Gary

Gary, did you mean G70 styles for the T3? If so I can't find them!

I've downloaded all her styles Is it worth downloading all the styles from that site or just specific people that have specifically optimised them for the T3?

There are thousands upon thousands of style files on the PSR-Tutorial site, some of which are outstanding, particularly those converted by Eileen. Keep in mind that all will play on the T3, including many of the older ones created for most of the PSR series.

I would suggest, however, that you also download Michael Bedesem's MIDI Player II program, which has been recently upgraded for the T3. You can revoice some of the older style file conversions and you'll be amazed at the results. The program is free and very user friendly.

Good Luck,

Gary

Thanks Gary, is this in effect better than the software you already get with the T3, Yamaha Voice Editor?

Michael's program essentially does much of the work of changing the voices in styles and midi files from older Yamaha keyboards to voices within styles of your new keyboard. And, it can do this in batches as well as individual files, which is a great feature. With some files, however, you'll still need to do some fine tuning in the keyboard itself using the onboard programs.

Correct me if I'm wrong but MIDI Player II program is for Re-voicing MidiFiles only not Styles.

Graham,

If I recall correctly, which is sometimes not the case, it does both midi and style files. Yamaha's styles are essentially midi files that loop, so it should change both. I could be wrong, though.
