I have been using a Roland EV-5 on my Nord, but it has too short a throw. I connected my Boss FV300L analog pedal, and it seems fine, with a much better throw. Aside from a few artifacts that occasionally enter the signal path, is there any reason not to use the Boss instead ?

Bernie, I use the Behringer FCV100 Dual Mode Foot Pedal on my Nord C1 when not using the PK7A bass pedals w/built-in expression pedal. At $25.00, it is the BEST deal in the industry. It has been rock solid and feels better than any I've tried. Throw is longer than most and the pots are dead-on smooth. I would recommend these to anyone for organ use.

The only issue I can think of for using a volume pedal post-everything is, is the controller input pre-distortion, or at least, pre output stage distortion?

On a real Hammond, the grind winds up as you push the accelerator to the floor ( ), but if you put a volume pedal after the main outputs, you are going to be simply ramping up and down the already distorted sound.

Not quite the same effect, IMO...
