As I know a lot of us use laptops not only for home but on the gig I thought this would be good info to pass along:

Interesting, I see Acer have moved up from 4th to 3rd.

Just bought myself a new Acer. 19” screen with full 1920 X 1080p Resolution. Biggest darn thing you ever saw. It's huge but seriously sweet.

I needed the screen for graphic design.

I've been using a Toshiba Satellite Pro laptop for several years...before that I had a second hand Toshiba, that worked perfectly, until I decided to upgrade for the bigger screen and CD/DVD drive.

My next laptop will be a Toshiba.

I've heard some horror stories about Acer.

Have another look, the graph goes from right to left, not the other way around.

Am I reading it wrong ? Looks to me like they are third ?

Let me chime in supporting Toshiba. I had a Dell Inspiron and loved it. My daughter had a Toshiba and just had problem after problem with it. We sent it back twice and she finally decided to get herself a Dell. It sat in the corner for two years; couldn't find a buyer. My Dell finally croaked, so I picked up the Toshiba Satellite and upped the RAM. Works like a charm and never even burps. Love it.

There is a not so closely guarded secret in the notebook business, that the vast majority of the notebooks you and I buy are manufactured from only a handful of companies, regardless of brand.

Take a look at this

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_lap...rers_.28ODMs.29

Quanta manufactures one in three laptops in existence.

I have a little Acer Aspire laptop. Previously had a Gateway. They both work great.
My home PC is also an Acer. It's the third one I've had. My experience with them has been good.

Seems that DanO1 is the only one that cares about childish things like that.

Probably, I bought the Acer because it is so small it doesn't appear that I'm doing Kar****.
It cost all of $300, but does everything I need on stage.
I won't need it much longer except for backup as the Audya will do everything I use the laptop for, except internet surfing.
You'd be surprised at how many times I get a request, don't really know the song, and can Google it, pull up the words and chords and play it on the spot. It has probably more than paid for itself in tips just with this alone.
