Sounds better now for sure. But I'm NOT sure if it was the OS or the different keyboard entirely. This is the third one I had. The first two were obviously damaged in shipment.
Both boxes had holes in the sides. One you could actually see the music rack sticking out through the hole.
The first one had damaged keybed because of it, and on the second one the sound board went out, most likely because of the damage.
I wouldn't ship a ball bearing by UPS.

I am still confuse about the AUDYA after OS3.

Do styles play as they should?
Intros, variations, endings for styles work?
MIDI play back work?
MP3 play back work?
Can you mute style parts?
What patches (sounds) you like better?
Ca you import CONVERTED styles from other keyboards?

Looking for info in what is working fine, no in the bugs.

Hope that DonM or other Audya user can respond.

Thanks

I've had no problems playing styles or midi playback.
You can easily mute, change volume or sounds in Styles, either globally or per variation, then save the changes.
Intros, variations, fills, breaks, all work fine.
There are still some issues with audio guitar parts when playing aug and dim chords, but in real-time play it's hard to hear. If you were soloing the style part, it's not hard to hear.
Not a killer thing for me, but I will be glad when they fix it. I'm told they are working on it.
I will be taking it to work tonight for the first time, that is if I can get my son to load it in the car. My back went out last night. (Well it WAS my anniversary).
You know you're getting old when your back goes out while the rest of you stays home.

In OS3.0, the sound tables were revised (meaning the samples were set with new parameters making each sound better and clearer than before). We had to revise the sound so as to optimize the overall sonic clarity of the keyboard.

In this release some issues with AUDYA freezing when using trying to sync midi and audio (midifiles or styles) was also fixed so you can now switch back and forward instantly and no more freezing associated with this performance.

Screen bugs (where certain displays would flicker as AUDYA switched from one function to another while the arranger or sequencer or player was running) have been fixed by better managing the routing of data in all the above modes.

New Sound tables adding more audio chord types for aug, 9th, 11th, sus and dim have been added (when you install the OS, you MUST select and load the file Alltabs.tab found in the HD root directory to load the new table in).

Added to this, the following new features have been added in OS 3.0 ...

* STYLE - MORPHING
* 4 New Sound BANKS are now included - DRUM BANK, PIANO BANK, GUITAR 1 BANK, GUITAR 2 BANK. The new Library allows one to replace the corresponding Midi tracks on Drum1, Chord1, Chord 2 and Chord 3 of the Style. Also enhanced are the Bass Bank and Arp&Lick Libraries.
* Scrolling the Banks when the Style is running (except for styles with Audio Drums ) is now available also.
* Notes remaining in hold mode in Chords when set to Retrigger Mode has now been addressed for styles.
* FILL TO END : One can now execute the Fill In followed by the End 1 ( under User Assignable Tab )
* END ON STOP : One can now activate the Ending even in Stop condition ( under User Assignable ). First select the function and then press the Ending required.
* ORIGINAL FILL – ORIGINAL BREAK : When these parameters are On, the Fill Ins and Break are reproduced the same way regarless if they are activated from the single Fill In tab or from the Tab 1-5 ( under Style Mode > ).
INTRO TO ARRANGE A : Automatic selection of the Arranger Variation “A” after Intro 1, regardless of current Arranger selection ( function is found under Style Mode > Modes ).

*MACRO RECORDING
Global recording of the performance’s events ( under Menu ). Recording starts with Start Rec and stops by pressing the button ‘Record’. The file is saved under the Disk - Midi folder, with the ‘.Msr’ extension ( Macro Song Recording ). To start the playback just select the file and press Enter ; it can be stopped by pressing the Registration button (which blinks during playback).

*USER AUDIO DRUMS
A new function that allows one to replace the internal Audio Drum with custom/User Audio Wave Loops created by the user and located in a new Audya folder called User Audio Drum.
The Wave Loops must be 44 KHz , 16 bit and their name must include the @ symbol followed by the precises BPM information. For example : HOUSE2@127.wav.
The Loops are automatically synchronized with Midi and may be associated to each Style part such as 4 Arranger Variations, Fill In, Break, Intros and Endings.

*REGISTRATION
* Now included is the capability to save the Left Octave and the 3 sliders settings provided for the following Voices : Left, 2nd, and Right .
* Also corrected the functioning of the Headphone with a metronome.
* Improved the save and load operations .
* A new option ‘REG LOAD MODE’ which controls the Progr. Change on the right hand when changing Registration ( under Menu > Keyboard Control > Utility > Next Page 2). With Mode 1 the Right Voice changes immediately when a new registration is recalled ; with Mode 2 [delay] it changes only at the beginning of the next bar (if a style is being played during the registration selection).
* The Zoom On condition for Txt is now saved in Registration.
* The Txt is loaded automatically when the Registration is loaded.

* MIDI FILE
Now included is the capability to save Mute, Solo and Midimix within the Song setup (F3 > Part & MIX).
Also, the Parts muted are now transmitted to Midi Out with their volumes ( to control an external module ).
* The Slider Lead of Midimix controls the Lead channel which is set on the Midi and not Part 3.
* The Bass slider on Midimix now recognizes the Bass track of the Midi file.
* We’ve inserted the option MIDI SYSEXC MODE on Menu > Control > Utility > Page3 >F10 : With this function activated, the Midi parameters are not saved as SYS EXC but as normal events. When Enter is pressed once a Midifile is highlighted, the song is loaded, while with Start button the file starts playing in order do not loose the changes memorized on the buffer. In GM part, once the changes are made, just press the key USER 5/10 to update these changes.
* WAVE SYNC : this function allows you to synchronize one or more Wave tracks with the MIDI file precisely associated with the Midi ( into Midi file > Next > F8 ) ( See Wave Sync special document ).

* PLAYER
HALF SCREEN MODE : Function located at Menu > Control > Utility >Page3 > F10. This function presents the player on the Main View with the List of files on the Left and the Lyric on the Right.
JUKE BOX : Function located at the Menu >Control >Utility >Page3 > F10. When a file is playing already, this function allows one to select a second file which will start automatically after the first ends. By pressing Go To Next, it is possible to start playing the next song immediatly.
PAGE UP _ PAGE DOWN : We’ve inserted a new capability to change the page during navigation with the keys Back << and Forward >> .
S.MEDLEY : [Sync medley]. When this functions is set to On, the next midifile selected will start from the second bar and not from the first, thus avoiding the empty bar usually found at beginning of the Song.
A. PLAY – PAUSE ON – SPACE 3s : if set to AutoPlay On the player plays (in order) all files present in the folder. If set to Pause, after the current file/song has finished playing, it moves automatically to the next file /song but doesn’t start playing it just yet until the user presses START. If set to Space 3s the player includeds a pause of 3 seconds as it goes from one file/song to the other.
It is possible to personalize this delay time with the Alpha dial (default is 3s – 3 seconds).

* VARIOUS
PIANIST/BASSIST EASY MODE : new Easy Mode provided for Pianist / Bassist ( under Style Mode). The chord is recognised immediately based on the keys pressed, without waiting for a new retriggered chord having a minimum of 3 notes.
LEFT SUSTAIN : added left sustain On/Off on GM voices edit for the left voice.
RIGHT : Inserted VOICE SELECT MODE found in Menu> Keyboard Control > Utility > Pag 3. This option allows you to navigate the various orchestral families/groups without instantly changing the Right hand voice; this voice will be changed only when a new voice is selected (using the corresponding F1-F10).
ROTOR : the Rotor effect remains On when changing between various Presets or Programs having the Rotor option saved within.
AFTERTOUCH&PORTAMENTO AUTOSWITCH : automatic switch On for the tabs Portamento and Aftertouch when these are programmed into Presets or Programs ( under Menu > Keyboard Control > Utility > Next Page 2 ).
OUT ASSIGN : new possibility to assign the Bass track on Out 3&4.
KEYBOARD TRANSPOSER : enabled the Left trasposition when is required a keyboard global transposer while the Midi file is playing.
PEDALBOARD : when Pedalboard function is On ( under Style Mode > Bass ) and with the Manual Bass activated, the Bass plays organ style on the Pedalboard.
VOICETRON : with TALK mode the Voicetron is deactivated.
Added a DRY ON STOP Mode under Menu > Keyboard Control > Utility > Pag 3 : on Stop condition the Reverb on the Voice is deactivated.

Thanks,

AJ

Can you clarify this for us, AJ? Are you in fact saying that there actually are NEW audio chord performances of the aug, sus, dim and 9th and 11th chords, and that you have to load in a boatload of more ROM loops to cover these chords, or is it just that better MIDI versions of those chords have been developed that perhaps blend better with the audio chords?

And, if there ARE new audio loops, are they for ALL the ROM styles, or just some?

Dikki,

It's actually both (better midi versions and some audio loops as well). These apply to the current ROM styles (not the extra ones made available with OS 2.0).

We are working on improving this table as we release more software with more features.

Thanks,

AJ

I know you are pretty busy, but perhaps, when you have time, you could explain that in a bit more detail for us...?

Which chord types have been added via new loops, to how many styles? And which chord types have simply had the MIDI data improved? How much extra data (in MB/GB) is needed for them? Does the extra audio loop data use up any of the sampler RAM, or does it get loaded to a different area of memory? Does it slow down the loading up of a style (for going from one style to the next without stopping)?

This is a pretty gobsmacking piece of news, and having it glossed over so briefly is a bit confusing. Some more details would be VERY useful...
