I'm still mulling over getting the 910. If I can get my favorite T3 styles for the 910 (which are not currently on the 910 but are on the T3) then I would be more apt to buy the 910.
How does one get current onboard T3 styles? (ie: Blockbuster Movie, Classical Menuet, Ethereal Movie, etc.)

Hi Telmo,
Those are the T3 styles modified to work on my PSR-3000. In spite of all the nay sayers, they sound marvelous on my PSR-3000. I know, I tried the real T3 the other day and the difference did not impress me all that much.
However, I might still have the original unmodified files which would work best on the S910.
Mail me at hennie dot vanrooyen at exxaro dot com.

So far, unfortunately, no one has understood my original posted question.
Let me put it this way... Is there a way to transfer the factory styles of the T3 to the S900?
There are SOME of the T3 styles included on the new S910, but not the ones I hoped would be included.
So what I'm asking is - is it possible for someone who owns a T3 to send me some of my favorite T3 styles so I can use them on my NEW S910 which I just bought?
Tim

Sorry Tim, now I know what you're after: the original Tyros 3 Styles. Maybe, you'll be better off inquiring here, this is the Tyros 3 Forum and most of users own the Tyros 3. I believe, you'll have better chances to get what you're looking for. Try it: http://www.yamahapkowner.com/forum/index.php?board=90.0

Just FYI, Exchanging copyrighted styles is exactly the same as exchanging copyrighted songs: the copyright lasts for 70 years from the death of the author and/or composer.
Please don't approach me for copyrighted styles. I'd like to remain in Steve Demming's good graces. Nevertheless, I will leave instructions in my will to release all T3 and S910 styles to anyone who wants them, 70 years from now. I don't want anyone to think that I'm not generous.

I have never said anything to anybody about this issue. Tim asked what was "legal". I just provided the facts. It's not my place to police this, or any other site.
And this is WHY people resort to illegal means to get what they need...
If Yamaha simply got off its' arse and made an S900/910 translation of all the T3 styles, they could SELL THEM through the IDC. If they don't, it is inevitable that people WILL find a way.
Sheer laziness. It's not as if the style is going to sound as good on a PSR. Shouldn't scavenge any T3 sales, IMO. It's just strange. Yamaha set up a nice way to securely deliver styles via IDC, then don't leverage the technology with the products that the consumer actually WANTS...

Tim, let us know if the Tyros 3 Styles play nicely on the S910 or if it needs some tweaking.

I received my PSR910's today and spoke with Steve Deming at Yamaha regarding playing Tyros3 styles in the 910. The 910 does have the same mode as the Tyros3 to play using the new Guitar mode. So, if you load Tyros 3 styles into the 910 they will play perfectly unless some of the super articulation sounds that are in the Tyros3 are not present in the 910 and in this case, the 910 will pick an appropriate other sound in its place.

All of the T3 styles will play in the S910. About half of the T3 styles play in the S910 with no voices missing. About 35% have one or more voices that appear empty in the mixer but are substituted with a suitable voice in the S910. About 15% have a voice missing that doesn't play. This is especially true with the Jazz & Swing styles. The T3 must have a Mega! Jazz Guitar that doesn't get substituted in the S910. Workaround: Use the Mega!SolidChord guitar in the S910, turn down the treble, turn up the bass, and turn it down a tad. This sounds perfect.
I got a lot of T3 styles now that sound fantastic! Unfortunately, many voices are missing from the OTS.
Why Steve would even discuss something apparently illegal is beyond me...
Look, Steve, if you are reading this, can I suggest a change to your legal department? Why not amend the clause to make it illegal to use the T3 styles in anything OTHER than a Yamaha product? You are penalizing your own customers, when all you REALLY want to do is restrict them to other manufacturers' customers.
Not that they translate that well any more, with all the Mega information stripped out...
