This is a very individual thing, but we all have SZ members that we feel we kind of know or are more familiar with than others. For example, I kind of know how guys like Gary, Cassp, Don Mason, Russ, etc. tend to view things. Others, I don't feel as familiar with.

I'm not sure if I've just not connected with this users stuff in the past or what but I've really enjoyed reading Mac's stuff of late. It's not about agreeing with everything he writes because I don't. There's a certain quality or maturity to his contributions that I think elevate the forum as a whole.

While there's been some negative, baiting and harsh posts of late...I found a nice contrast from Mac.

Speaking of 'unfamiliar' and pleasant supprises, over at the 'Bar', Bill has done a remarkable job of moderating a forum on what could be a very touchy subject (healthcare and it's attendant sub-topics). He has been fair-minded, even-handed, allowed (civil) dissent, kept the topic on course, expressed his own personal opinions without being blatantly left or right, and always steered the conversation back in the direction of common sense. This is the best job I've seen in moderating a sub-forum, especially on a sensitive issue. Kudos and congrats to Bill who I, for one, am seeing in a new light. He sure seems like good people to me (and that from someone, according to some, who doesn't like anybody except maybe those losers, Russ and Diki , oh, and maybe Ian.....although he IS Canadian .

Chas is right (damn, I hate to admit that). Bill handled a vital topic with sensitivity and the reswult was an in-depth exchange of varying opinions; all well thought out and beneficial in developing a "world view" understanding of a vital issue.

Thanks, Bill.

Bill, I'm certainly with you on the fine comments and attitude Mac has brought to the "Zone" since he's been here. On top of being articulate, when it comes to recording and music in general, he really knows his stuff. His in-depth comments about the structure of some Steely Dan songs shows that he knows
more than many here.

We don't know much about his background, but when he responded to a thread about my friend Rory that he would meet him on a bandstand somewhere and try to "blow him away", I was convinced that he probably had the chops to "give a go".

Mac, I, too won't agree with everything you say, but I'll sure appreciate your reasoned explanation of your views.

Your arrival here has been the bright spot in a pretty dismal couple of weeks. Somw of us who have been around a long time could learn from your attitude and reasoned responses. And the "Zone" would be better off.

I'm glad you're here.

Russ

Mac's a heavy poster on the PowerTracks Pro Audio forum. Good guy... knows what he's talking about.
