Just got a 1010 and there are some things I need a little help with. My keyboard doesn't switch patches, but I need to be on Patch 10 to get percussion instruments. Is there anything I can do about this?

Also, I want to hook my keyboard, JV-1010 and PC together so I can use the editing equipment. What's the easiest way to do this?

Thanks
Abe

Apologies if you already know this, but you might need to more clearly understand the structure of your JV - it uses both sound and rhythm-set PATCHES, up to 16 of which can be used in a PERFORMANCE. A performance is made up of 16 PARTS, any of which can be set to respond to any MIDI CHANNEL.

Part 10 is fixed to use rhythm-set patches; the other 15 parts use normal sound patches.

General MIDI instruments use midi channel 10 for rhythm sounds, so you will need to check your keyborad's manual to figure how to set the sending midi channel.

You can get rhythm sounds in a few different ways from the JV:

- using the JV's general midi mode, and play notes on channel 10.

- use the JVs special rhythm mode (I think this is just a special variation of a performance using only part 10)

- use a performance with part 10 set to receive on the same channel sent from your keyboard.

Hope this helps,
