Right on, Diki. And it's not just the production either. If everyone could write the classic three-minute pop song, then we'd all be stinkin' rich. Lord knows I've been trying long enough. It ain't easy by any means.

Furthermore, it's not just the writing and production either. It's all about the 'star maker machine behind the popular song' that has to be gone through after the piece is ready-to-go.

Jeez, I'm 65 (it's just numbers) and the Black Eyed Peas turn my crank.

Way to go, 124!

That's what I'm talking about...

There's TON of great stuff out there, right now. But you'll never hear it unless you LISTEN for it, and don't try to compare it unfavorably to whatever you listened to in your youth. Our parents invariably put down the music WE considered contemporary hits when we were young and alive. Were they right? Of course not!

Are we right putting down OUR kids music? Hell no! We have simply become what we most hated in our youth... people with closed minds and closed hearts, and NO FUN..!

I don't WANNA grow up... I'm a Toys'R'Us kid

You are right...Fergie is cool and talented. So are John Meyer, Corrine Bailey Raye, Nora Jones, John Legend, Alicia Keys and lots others. For groups, there is Acoustic Alchamy, Huge Groove, The Roots, Maroon Five and lots more. There are always gems out there, regardless of the generation.

And, there is music of substance. That's what I enjoy. That's what it's all about.

I have always enjoyed all genres of music (although it has been difficult for me to "take the blinders off" when it comes to rap and hip-hop), and I agree there is good music out there ...
A couple of years ago I told my son (he's 43 now) that I have seen a lot of top stars - Sinatra, Bennett, Joel, Elvis, etc - but had never seen Springsteen ... about a month or so later he calls and says don't take any gigs for this particular night, we are going to be in GIANTS Stadium - yep, I've seen Springsteen and it was a hell of an experience ... all the stage presence and magnetism of Elvis 30 or so years earlier
