Like several of you,I decided to try the Bose L1 Compact and I love it. Most of my gigs are medium to small,i.e.,50 to 150 people. I took it on my larger dance with the band, and it performed every bit as good as my Classic.

I realize it may not be up to the larger venues that need ultra driving bass, but I had it at 50% of max with an unbalanced cable, and it was plenty. A balanced one gives you +6db.

I haven't decided what to do with my L1 Classic, but might keep it for back up. It sure is a snap to carry and set up.

I also purchased a Bose Compact & used it for my first job yesterday where there were 85 people in attendance. It handled the situation perfectly & I have since sold my L1 Classic. For me, the sound I got with the Compact, ease of set-up, less pieces & less weight to carry around compared to the Classic were the deciding factor.

Hi Guys - I'm having a hard time avoiding the "call of Bose" myself... HAHA... Here is a video of a guy doing a wedding ceremony (DJ service) w/a Compact....

I'm going to stay with my two Bose L1's in stereo...there's actually no venue I do that the Bose doesn't perform above expectations....and the stereo imaging is heard perfectly.

For limited coverage gigs, I use my old faithful Yamaha MS60s powered monitors.

I tried two Compacts...they are great, but I only want to have one full coverage system, and the two Bose L1's have already paid for themselves.

WOW .. I attended the anniversary party of friends at that hotel ... beautiful location, great food ...

As forthe BOSE, I don't know if this is the BEST testimony for it, but I get the point ...
Also, I was somewhat 'turned off' by a guy "playing" a gig with a laptop and a PA system ... ...

Tony - you're right. It's pretty depressing, isn't it? I subscribe to a wedding consulting service. Man, the gigs looking for DJs outnumber the ones wanting live music. What shocks me is that the budgets people are willing to outlay to DJs (vice live players) is on average about $300 higher. Maybe the reason they're willing to pay the extra $$$ is to get the DJ to do the MC'ing so they don't have to deal with "mic fright". I agree with you... a laptop sitting on a white linen table as the master of music is definitely a sad testament to where we are today. Still like the Bose side of the demo though.

Topic is Bose L1 Compact. I got carried away by Tony and Randy's post and got off topic. Moved it to "Weddings".

Ditto that. I am seriously considering a pair of Compacts.

Just a reminder to those with balanced line outs(trs), to use balanced cables. Unbalanced works fine, but you get another 6DBL at the high end. This comes from Bose.
