Mikey,
My first impression of my Bose Comapact was that is was really bright - almost tinny as you suggested. After I messing around with my keyboard EQ it really sounded pretty darn good. I think that is one of the drawbacks of the unit - if you can't EQ the input it is really bright - but crystal clear.

Are you going in those 1/4" jacks? Aren't they Tonematched for an acoustic guitar?

How about the RCA ins? That ought to be flat, surely?

Diki,
I use the quarter inch jack input but I don't use the guitar setting. Today I tried something a little different. I ran both my keyboard outputs into a combo gadget in to the single Jack on the Bose. Then I connected the two Compacts together using the output from one and going into the input of the other. On top of that I also ran my RCA connectors.

It all worked just fine for what I was doing - a partial DJ job doing Patriotic Wav files from my computer for the Vets at the gig. Not the sort of thing I like doing or do that often but ok for todays gig.

Frankly, I wasn't all that excited about the sound fromt the PC into the Compact but I have heard worse. Still can't beat running each Compact from a single keyboard output.

Oh Boy glad today was a holiday today & I was gigging & didnt go shopping......after reading into this from Mikey maybe the Bose compact isn't the bees knees after all & is really just a guitar man's rig.......maybe Fran was right as usual.
I will still try the compact in the store with my Kb full bore anyway just to be sure.. I can't believe it's that bad & tinny if I heard that in a store I'd be all over the saleman idiot to let me EQ the unit as they mostly know squat.....

forum post..........

"Yes the Fishman Soloamp was 999$, at Guitar Center, and the Bose L1 Compact was also 999$. I did buy the Bose, and am extremely glad I did. There was no comparison for me sound wise. The Bose is killer. I had it hooked up in my house, and my wife (who has heard me playing for 25years) could not believe how the voice and guitar sounded. It is the most accurate acoustic tone I have ever heard in a system. "

Donny, No doubt about it good find, very interesting. I'm not saying the guy is selling us a bill of goods. I'm going to be the devil's advocate. Since we can't see sound how do we in fact know it's coming from the Compact? Just something to think about.

Hammer what do you think you've done the experimenting?

Steve after seiing & reading this review.. I might just pick one up and try it for my self....it has it's limits .....and thats the way I intend to use it nothing more as I have Big Guns for that kind of gig....so It could just be an easy to transport & setup very good coverage NH/small application rig ....
