Hello everyone. I am currently doing a single in a very small restaurant. I'm using the PSR-3000 and using the microphone function along with midi files. All I carry is a keyboard and stand. Easy gig.
I'm looking for a lighter and newer keyboard that I can plug a microphone in it and a USB jump drive. Any Ideas??????

Yamaha S900 best bang for the buck of any keyboard on the market period! Not to mention it sounds INCREDIBLE!!

S900 would seem the obvious choice if you're already comfortable with the Yamaha way of doing things.

Unless I read it wrong.., he said he's looking for a "lighter" newer keyboard. Isn't the S900 a pound heavier? I know a pound shouldn't seem like much.., but at least here at the Zone a single pound difference gets noticed. What about dimensions too. The S900 is an inch longer and 2 inches deeper.

I know these things should seem trivial.., but taking into consideration how often the issue of weight and size of a keyboard comes up here.., differences down to the inch and weight down to a single pound do get noticed (at least here they do).

Consider going with the PSR-S900.

As Squeak says, it's a tad heavier (1 lb), but I didn't notice it much, and I'm pretty picky about weight and portability.

It has the pen drive you're seeking, a familiar operating system, vocal input, as well as an audio to USB (a feature I really find handy)...plus, it has SA voices!

I had a 3000 and I'm glad I did the upgrade to the S900.

You should check to see if it fits in your present keyboard case because, as Squeak pointed out, it is a bit larger.

Considering what is on the market today, I too feel the S900 would be a good step up. There is considerable upgrade in moving from the 3k to the 900. I'm basically a Roland fan, but in this case S900 wins.

Thank you for your support. I failed to mention that I already have an S900 that I use with the 2-5 piece band every week and I didn't want to use if for this small gig. Anyway, what cases are you guys using for the S900? I have the Gator GK-61 and I feel it's too big. I'm still looking for a lighter keyboard and a case for the S900. Please help!!

I don't think you'll find anything lighter and as good as the PSR3000. I owned that board and it was a great improvement over my previous PSR2000. I don't know if Casio has anything with the 3000's features, but they would be your best chance at a replacement. Everything else is bigger, heavier and probably has less features. Good luck.

BTW, I used a RokSak 61 bag for my 2k and 3k. It fit snugly over the 3k and I sold it with the board.

I agree with Cass. The 3K or S900 is hard to beat.
However, you might be interested in
