Donny,

I got my T3 yesterday and without a doubt it is the best sounding board I have tried. The sounds are incredible! I upgraded from a PSR3000 so it is a huge difference for me. But I did own a Korg PA1X and for a short time a Ketron MidJay Plus. I like this more than either of those.

I am posting my day to day findings on the PSR Tutorial site if your interested. I am trying to stick to the facts and not blow out a lot of BS about the board.

By the way, I used a style conversion program provided by Yamaha and most of the styles I have been using are good enough to use my next gig. I have 6 gigs next week and I will probably use the T3 on them. The layout makes sense(at least to me) and all the buttons seem to fall right where you need them.

For those looking at the specs and think it is a T2 on steriods I suggest you go listen to one - then decide.

Kidding guys (donnie)

What can I say about the ty3, the bottom line is everyone should set down to one, with a good set of speakers, then make up your mind.

You have to try it.

cheers......poz

I'll be spending the day playing Dr. Bob's Tyros3 on Monday (Oct 20th). He's got a Tyros2 too, so I'll have the opportunity to audition & compare them side by side.

King Frog said, "CONS - would like more Controller foot switches"

I agree. Has anyone tried a midi foot controller on the T-2 or T-3? Can most control fuctions be done that way? I am accustomed to using six foot switches plus an expression pedal with Technics keyboards.

Hiya Bob, how've you been?

Tyros2/Tyros3 alone only supports 3 separate foot switch controlable functions, but because Tyros includes 2 midi INS/OUTS, utilizing this midi footswitch controller box from MIDI Solutions , you can add two MORE midi assignable foot pedal functions to give 5 foot pedal support. I use a modified Technics (Technote FC4) 4 footpedal unit on my Tyros2.

Very lightweight and compact yet rugged. Works great!

Thanks, Don. I already have a Behringer FCB 1010 which is similar to the Yamaha MFC-10. Both are larger than I would like. I do like Scotts approach which could get five foot controller functions with the T-3 in a small footprint. Just looking at alternatives if my KN7000 should quit. Would be nice if Yamaha offered more foot switch connections.

Thanks for the phone call, Scott. Good to hear from you.

Funny how we all play differently & use gear in many ways, I personally use only 1 or 2 depending on the gig any more is a no no I let my fingers do the walking .....that multiple pedal board scares me....but if it works for you so be it as long as the music sounds great. nice pics!

oops I mistated the use of the insets. I have them on a patch bay normalled to a REV500. I use the AUX INPUTs for the TC. The Harmonizer mike is plugged into the TC and MIDI'd to the T3 the out puts are fed back into the T3 (so I don't need to use the external mixer when sketching out a tune. I use in this manner until I have a record ready song. Then I switch on the computer and redo all the outputs sending them to the Prosonus via the patchbay and 1604 Mixer Subs to allow for independant tracks on Sonar.

I'm stll trying to get a handle on recording squences FROM Sonar.

Bob,
I have very sucessfully used the Roland PK-5 pedal board with T2. I think it will work the same with T3. I used it 2 ways...#1 for bass playing (organ style) AND #2 to control the T2 functions...worked great. You just hit a switch on it to change from MIDI notes (bass) to MIDI controls.

You get 13 switches(pedals) to set to control many things. The items that can be controlled with MIDI are in the manual.

Don't know if this is an option for you?

Thanks, Lee. That pedalboard is great for bass lines. I'm trying to find something that is smaller. Just want to change registrations, rhythm changes, etc on the fly. I have found that Midi Solutions has a small box that can handle two foot switches going to a single midi input. http://midisolutions.com/proddfs.htm Using Scott's approach, I could get four foot switch functions into the two midi ports of a T-3 with two small boxes. That, added to the other three that Yamaha provides would be more than enough as long as both midi in ports are free.

Bob,
OK, I see where your going with it now...Also, looks like MIDI solutions has other boxes, one looks like it will do 8 foot switches...I'm interested in that one now!
Thanks,
Lee

Those MIDI Solution boxes are supposed to cascade, aren't they (merge incoming data with what it generates)?

You shouldn't have to use BOTH MIDI ports on the T, just plug one into the other, then off to just the one port...
