Not really. He was all about the M3. I told him about my experience with the PA2x and thought it was a great gigging keyboard. He wants us to carry the workstations. We won't carry any because people will demo them here then but them on the net to save the tax. But we do carry the VOX and MArshall line form him.

But we only really carry the Yamaha Home keyboard line. We have one Tyros 3 and I can tell you it will sit for a long time. I think the only reason my boss oredered it is because I bought one on the employee program for 10% less than wholesale and he figures I will be the only one in the store able to demo it.

This is a Clavinova market. I'll sell $5,000 CVP 405s while the Tyros sits.

Even though Myrtle Beach has a lot of work for singles and duos. NO one uses Arrangers on the job. Even My wife who has made her living as a professional musician will record the arranger parts on a CD and fill in the rest on the gig. She would rather haul the 88 keys and her Guitar around and play with tracks.

Except for guitars, baby grands, and Home Keyboards this is a low end market. No $3000 keyboards sell quickly. PSR900s do well especially with Latinos for some reason.
All working musicians around here still see arrangers keyboards as "less than professional" sophisticated karaoke machines. Like me they buy them for studio use and drag a workstation to the gigs.

Hi Frank,Many thanks for the review.I'm buying this keyboard very soon and I have some questions, please clarify.
1.How this Tyros3 sounds on it's own speakers when compared to Tyros2?
2.How the strings,choir,organ flutes sound?
3.How the styles sound when compared to Tyros2 and s900?
Waiting for your reply.

Sunny,

I have never used the Tyros speakers on the T2 so I really can't comment on that. But it looks like they have re-worked the compressor and fx so the keyboard as a whole has a better fuller sound.

Strings sounds are great, very lush, organs are good but I still think they are too" 60's European" I'm not sure if that helps, I have never truelly been a big organ fan of Yamaha. But they are better sounding than before.

compared to the T2 and S900. the styles are pretty much the same except for 50 new ones that are scattered and not visibly listed as "new"
the T2/S900 compared to the T3, the sounds and styles seem to have a little more umph, a combination of a little more bass, more treble, better compression, better freq response, I played 2 weeks ago using a s900 and had to mess alot with the eq to get it to sound like my PA2xpro, but the T3 seems to be pretty close out of the box.

It's just hard to try to explain sound in words

I hope this helps?

Frank

Frank,
Thanks for giving more info about Tyros3.I also had s900 but i'm not satisfied with the strings, choir and organ voices,so i sold it last week and decided to purchase Tyros3.Is there any much difference between s900 and Tyros 3?It is mentioned that Tyros3 organ samples are 10 times more than Tyros 2.Is there any much improvement in organ section?

Sunny

Sunny,

Yamaha told me they have updated the organ section and the waveform memory has increased.

Sunny drop me a email to discuss the T3 purchase if you like
