For those who have not visited in awhile take a gander and hook up your PC to a good sound system. They have added a lot of information and sounds,

The numerous separate guitar distortion effects are amazing

The new guitar chording system "corrects" chorded play to what a guitar would sound like accurately

LCd is like a TV no contrast knob needed.

T3

EFFECTS

T3 revamped entire preset configuration allowing 5 effects per style

Reverb 42
Chorus 106
DSP1 - DSP7 272
DSP8 - DSP9 272 (for Style)
Master Compressor 5 presets + 5 user settings
Master Equalizer 5 presets + 2 user settings
Harmony/Echo Yes

Slider controllers for Organ flutes/volume

This is far more than a minor upgrade on paper. bThe Voice Set expansion capability makes the keyboard expandable with pre configured Voice Packs. Rather than trying to construct samples which can be done as well using 8 elements per voice like the Motif Xs

Which T3 site are you talking about? Not the "official" Tyros3 site I assume since I don't see any guitar distortion effects on the "official" Tyros3 site after looking over it.

Best,
Mike

Yeah me too. We got a huge Yamaha delivery today and the friggin T3 stand and speakers came..........No Tyros though.

I don't know how some can claim this is a minor upgrade. Just looking at the specs and hearing the Samples along with the ability to buy Voice Paks, its clearly a huge upgrade. I cannot imagine it sounding worse than the demos.

What's all this about "voice packs" and "premium voices"? What does it mean?

For the first time (I believe) with a Yamaha arranger, you will be able to buy sound packs like you can style packs direct from Yamaha, thus expanding the number of sounds onboard. (You will probably need to add more memory though)
This is due to the standard hard disk and faster interface. (Expect between 15 – 18 times faster loading from the hard disk)
The first to be introduced is the Vocal pack. (Pricing and availability is yet to be determined)

The question is would Yamaha support the voice pack feature with new voice packs regularly? Or will they just produce one voice pack and never do anything again.

Depends on whether Yamaha sell a boatload of the first one or two, I suppose...

Maybe now they'll get around to producing a few (more, if you believe the T3 hype!) punchy drum kits, some nice multi velocity high quality drums with a bit of 'air' around them Maybe another brush kit and something with some crack! for contemporary alternative rock and pop...

I'd be curious if they can produce voice packs that use the SA2 engine though.... now THAT would be a breakthrough!
