Some ladies that love to line dance asked me to learn a specific song. On the CD copy they gave me the song was called Irish Stew. It's a culmination of four songs, only one of which I have not been able locate. I found three, though, at http://www.irishsongs.com/lyrics.php It's a great site. The song is tough to learn, that is unless you're from the Emerald Isle.

Enjoy,

Gary

Thanks for the link Gary.
I am living a phase of Irish Music at the moment!
(That's what lured me to the Martin Harris T3 demo I just wrote about..he starts with a snatch of Irish Dance style)
I have a CD 'Riverdance' which has a great number of songs from the travelling show of the same name all now as .wma's on my HD
I also have VCR of the Riverdance show of 1996 which I treasure !

Thanks again
cheers

Gord,

The first three songs I found were Whiskey In The Jar, Irish Rover and Katie Daily, all of which are upbeat and have some wild lyrics. The one I'm having trouble finding, and I'm guessing at the title, but I'm relatively sure the second name in the title is Riley. The Irish accent is a bit tough for me to determine the first name in the song title. I'll try to post an MP3 later today of the entire song.

Thanks,

Gary

Hi Gary,

The other title you're looking for is 'Dicey Reilly'.

All the best,
Rich

Thanks Rich,

It's a neat song and it has a really infectious beat. One of those songs that you can't sit still and listen to.

Thanks again,

Gary

For those that want the lyrics:
IRISH STEW

As I was going over the far famed Kerry mountains
I met with captain Farrell and his money he was counting.
I first produced my pistol, and then produced my rapier.
Said stand and deliver, for I am a bold deceiver,

musha ring dumma do damma da
whack for the daddy 'ol
whack for the daddy 'ol
there's whiskey in the jar

musha ring dumma do damma da
whack for the daddy 'ol
whack for the daddy 'ol
there's whiskey in the jar

In the year of our Lord, eighteen hundred and six
We set sail from the fair Cobh of Cork.
We were bound far away with a cargo of bricks
For the fine city hall of New York.

She's an elegant craft, she was rigged fore-and-aft
And oh, how the wild winds drove her.
She had twenty-three masts and she stood several blasts
And we called her the Irish Rover.

Hi didy I dum Hi didy I day
Hi didy I dum Hi day
Hi didy I dum Hi didy I day
Hi didy I dum Hi day

INSTURMENTAL

She will walk along Fitzgibbon Street with an independent air
And then its down by Summerhill, and as the people stare
She'll say, "It's nearly half passed one
Time I went in for another little one
But the heart of the rowl is Dicey Reilly

Oh poor old Dicey Reilly, she has taken to the sup
And poor old Dicey Reilly, she will never give it up
It's off each morning to the pop that she goes in
for another little drop
But the heart of the rowl is Dicey Reilly

INSTRUMENTAL (FIDDLE)

Oh Come down the mountain Katie Daily
come down the mountain Katie do
Oh can't you hear us calling Katie Daily
we want to drink your Irish mountain dew

Oh Come down the mountain Katie Daily
come down the mountain Katie do
Oh can't you hear us calling Katie Daily
we want to drink your Irish mountain dew

I counted out his money, and it made a pretty penny.
I put it in my pocket and I took it home to Jenny.
She said and she swore, that she never would deceive me,
but the devil take the women, for they never can be easy

musha ring dumma do damma da
whack for the daddy 'ol
whack for the daddy 'ol
there's whiskey in the jar

musha ring dumma do damma da
whack for the daddy 'ol
whack for the daddy 'ol
there's whiskey in the jar

NOTE: The closest style I could find for this one on the PSR-3000 was Bluegrass, tempo of 120, D variation. The style's not perfect, but with some work I'll eventually come up with a perfect style for this outstanding song.

Gary
