Hi

I have z5500 for quite some time now, but decided to use them for practicing just now.

I have problem with hookup.

There is a loud humming sound coming from speakers. As soon as i disconnected power cord from pa2x sound is gone. I know that ground in my house is OK because i double checked that with electrician(friend of mine)

I tried to use both phone and lest out outputs but its still the same.

DO u know guys what can be a problem?

Thnx

There is a possibilty that the PA2X grounding system is at fault. Try using a 3 to 2 ground defeater adapter plug for the keyboard's AC connection and see if this solves the problem. You can purchase them at most hardware stores for under $2.

Good Luck,

Gary

Have you tried a different cable?

I suggest using balanced cables (Ring,Tip, shield)

60 cycle hum is generally caused by a bad ground in the cable.

Go with Gary's suggestion..it usually corrects the ground fault..

A safer way might be this gound loop isolator from Radio Shack. I have two that work great. http://www.radioshack.com/search/index.jsp?kwCatId=&kw=loop%20isolator&origkw=loop%20isolator&sr=1

Bernie, I have been swapping out for 2 prong adapters for over 10 years..to eliminate ground hum...and never a shock..yet..

but problem was still there, however, problem was gonne when i disconected all unused input cables from the back,... i guess some other device, TV or IRD was making a bad ground connection to z5500

tnx guys for help!!

I guess you are saying that a ground is totally unnecessary. I wonder why they make them.
