OK, now that I bragged about how great it is to manipulate smf, I cannot for the life of me figure out (2) things:

1. How to save OTS settings for the RH1 when playing the smf in song mode. I'm using split mode to trigger vocal harmony.

2. How to change and save the correct tempo to the song, once in memory. (In sequence mode the tempo is correct, but when I save as a smf (to usb) and play from the song button/mode, it reverts back to an incorrect tempo).

Back at it now to try it on my own....

Any help appreciated.

When you save as a song, you need to check the box on page 1 WRITE STS and then select which # sts you want to save the current one you are using to.

Its odd that the tempo of the smf isn't loaded when the song is loaded from disk, but you could try to load the song, change the tempo, and then overwrite the songbook entry. That might work?

Thanks Dennis,

I'll give it a try when I'm done with tonight's performance.

PS Zuki,
When you go to that page and select the top tab, it AUTOMATICALLY selects STS 1, if thats the one you are working on, or STS2 or 3, etc so be aware of that when saving.

Also if you change to another STS before saving the one you are using/editing (to either a songbook entry, or the STS within the style) it will revert back to the original.

It really is a case of "save as you go".

Hi Dennis,

Not sure I'm explaining myself correctly.

I'm taking the smf from song mode and putting it in the sequencer mode to edit.

The only options to save after editing are from drop down and there is only a save to usb avaialable, or to the ssd (which is full). There is no sts to choose from in sequence mode.

I know how to save changes from the songbook with no problem and have tons of custom songs now, via arranger style.

I just want to speed the process and utilize smf as a base for new material. I'm hoping to be able to do this, but my brain seems to be shrinking each passing year

I'll keep pecking away at it tonight.

Yeah Zuki, now I think I get you...You want to be able to load up the smf with, say, a performance, or indeed an STS..

To the best of my knowledge this cannot be done. The only place a midi file can be automatically recalled from is a Songbook entry.

But I will have a bit of a fiddle and see what I can figure out.. Alhtough I don't hold much hope as I was trying some different options whilst I was writing this post.

STS settings are saved with each rhythm style, aren't they? I haven't tried it, but it seems to make sense that you can call up new rhythm styles (even in song mode - they just won't play), and utilize the STS that is associated with that rhythm.
Anyone try this?

Dave you are correct, but it doesn't work the other way around..

A particular style, or song, is not saved with the STS, but you can save an STS to a style or songbook entry.
