Why all this User area bull is necessary I have no idea..

Roland's read either off the internal 50MB flashRAM drive or off the card slot (where I have a 4GB card hanging) all instantaneously. No need whatsoever for any 'user area' to load them into before they become available. The Music Finder (Assistant, in Rolandspeak) can address any style in any area of the memory instantly...

Isn't this how all arrangers are SUPPOSED to work?

I realize that styles with custom samples will take time to load. But if they simply use onboard sounds, edited or not, they should come in instantly, IMO.

And everyone keeps calling the G70 'dated' technology

Post-dated, perhaps!

also, is there really a need to change the factory presets?
with so much available storage memory on cards, usb, internal flash, isn't it better to keep factory styles save in their location for future use (you never know) and simply save your own edited, tweaked styles under a different name...? ROM can (and should) be just a fix launching platform for personal creation.

i believe it is better to keep these two things separately. it's safer.

Depends on how good they are, and how much you like to select styles on the fly, I guess.

Personally, I never met a ROM style I couldn't improve. at least mix wise, and don't get me started about the overly loud OTS's (do you all play with feathers? ). So, for me, editing and improving the ROM styles is pretty significant, especially when you consider that to edit it and store it somewhere else firstly isn't as easy to get to in a hurry (I've got 91 pages of styles on my card!) and eats up HD space, while the ROM style sits there uselessly, also taking up space.

If you make UPG's for everything you do, it's not so much the issue, but if you are accompanying someone else, and they need the Sunshine Bossa, I'd rather get it from the ROM section, ready to go (my way!), than have to 'search' for it from the HD or card...

If I ever sell my G70 (perish the thought!) it will be a piece of cake to load back in the factory ROM styles and UPG's for it's next lucky owner (but I'll give him or her my edited ones to compare)...

Hi Manuel,
only problem I think , with loading styles into the factory area of the PA800, I've had 2 os & musical resources upgrades so far , with the 3rd on it's way.

I've been under the impression ( hopefully I'm wrong) , that when we load in a new resources upgrade it wipes out the old styles & then reloads the factory styles again, ( bringing it back to new) in which case we'd lose any user styles in the factory area???
Be a bit a a pain to have to reload a heap of user styles individually, unless of course one needs extra slots.
Fortunately I haven't run out of user & favourites slots, so I haven't tried the factory area.

best wishes
