Played the 1st hour with mp3s and the last 30 minutes live. Got to CRANK the sound for a couple hundred people outside. The 800 delivered perfectly - it was a nice change of pace and I landed another DJ 2 hour gig from it Wow - it sure is fun to play LOUD for a change.

Hi Zuki,

I've done a couple of similar gigs lately. It really opens up a whole new horizon. Rock on!

I have a very similar outdoor gig over the holiday...the first night I do my typical (lately) type of gig..a combination of DJ-ing and playing my G70..The following night for the same group..I perform with my band...Just about as diverse as it can be for this 2 day advent..

BTW, all my mp3's midi's and wav's are on my Ketron MidJay. I wouldn't leave home without it.

Joe,
I was wondering if you can tell me more about using the Midjay for DJing. I've done about a dozen weddings, playing the PA800 and midi accordion for cocktails and dinner and DJ equipment for dance music.
How do you load the Wave files into the Midjay? I have all of my wave files and mp3's on i-tunes and it's easy to burn disks from i-tunes but I don't know how to get the files into the Midjay.
How do you arrange the files in the Midjay for quick continous plays etc? Thanks.
Ciao,
Jerry

The mp3's that most of you play, do you download them from the internet (Limewire), or do you buy them?

The ones that I use are all downloaded from the internet. Some of them sound good and some seem to have some distortion on them.

there is a great little program called mp3 gain it really cleans up the mp3 files, takes out the distortion. And will do a batch of files in a folder or even a whole hard drive.

"Tired of reaching for your volume knob every time your mp3 player changes to a new song?
MP3Gain analyzes and adjusts mp3 files so that they have the same volume."

"MP3Gain does not just do peak normalization, as many normalizers do. Instead, it does some statistical analysis to determine how loud the file actually sounds to the human ear.
Also, the changes MP3Gain makes are completely lossless. There is no quality lost in the change because the program adjusts the mp3 file directly, without decoding and re-encoding."
http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/

Did I mention it's free

Thanks for posting MP3 Gain. That's terrific.
Just what I needed.

Jerry,
You just plug the USB cable from PC to Midjay. The MJ appears as an external drive for the PC. Just copy the files to the appropriate folders.

If there is actual distortion in the MP3, as opposed to it just being louder or quieter, but still clean, MP3 Gain won't be able to help that.

Simply search again for the song, try to download a different (preferably higher bit-rate!) version of it, and see if someone else did a better job of ripping it... (if you are comfortable with the piracy )
