Has anyone here used the Music Pad Pro?
I am thinking about getting one but would like to hear from folks who have actually used one.

I read everything and have way to many songs to carry around in books. I would like to know how easy it was to get it all setup and if it actually works as advertised. What did you have to do to load your lead sheets into it? Also, did you get the stand for it?

I've been using the MPP for the last 2 and a half years. I would not be without it. It's a great tool. You may want to do a search on the forum for Music Pad Pro, there has been a number of discussions on it in the past. I think it's worth every penny.

Take a look at the Freehand forum at http://www.freehandsystems.com/phpBB2/ . Lots of discussion about your questions.

I have the stand. Works fine but is not quite as stable as a professional music stand. When you tap the screen to change songs etc., there is some movement of the stand.

Hammer, I'm likely the first SZ member to own a MPP+ and still think it's one of the best music investments I've made as I now have every tune I can conceive of ever doing all in one convenient place. That said, though I still take it along on gigs, I only fire it up when I get obscure song requests or tunes I've forgotten the lyrics or changes changes to. I really appreciate having nearly my complete music library which includes stacks of fakebooks, songbooks, & and charts all in one place & songs convenient to call up at a moments notice. Another MPP feature I appreciate is creating customized play/set lists.

BAsically you can scan or print. With the MPP it comes with a print driver that will allow you to make anything you can print to a mpp file.

I have the stand also. I think the stand is truelly necessary since the MPP is a little thick so it ends up being a little unstable on allot of regular stands.

The only drag about the MPP is having convert all music into .fh (freehand) format. I first scanned into PHotoshop and then save the song as a .png file. The musicpad pro comes with software that then converts the png file to .fh format.

I got the stand and find it convenient espcially if there is no music rest available, but concur with Bob that even a light tapping on the unit while on stand can cause the stand's shaft to slip and lower the MPP unit slightly.

I was one of the first to follow Scott's lead, after Bob Hendershot. I find mine invaluable, and this was before the $300 price reduction. I carry a small clamp on my stand to stop it from slipping. They now have a swivel stand for landscape mode(horizontal). I wonder if this tends to slip, also.

I have had mine since November and it is a work in progress.

The manual is on their web-site, was surprised it didn't come in the box, and the instructions were a bit fuzzy but the tech. support was good. Once you get the system down,its fairly easy.

Had to use the memory flash drive as I ran out of space. My next step is to start placing the play sets and to figure out the best stand for it.

No regrets.

Thanks for the input folks. I got a few emails offering help with MPP if I got one and I really appreciate that. Does anyone have a line on the best place to buy one?

I have had my MPP for about 9 months. I have about 750 songs in it so far. The project (to migrate lots more music to it) has been on hold as I bought a new S900 and have been working on styles/registrations etc. to get it ready to gig, and other misc. "life priorities". I do like the MPP, I bring it to most gigs now. I can still move faster in a single book (find songs, in a book I made that I know real well) - but for more than one book the MPP wins hands down. but the MPP beats bringing 3, 4, 5 books to a gig!

It is a good amount of time to do all the work needed to migrate music to the MPP, but I feel it will be worth it .

I've had mine 4 days and have managed to scan in about 35 songs so far using about 3MB on the 1GB usb device , so plenty of space

Incase anyone is interested ... i also bought a canoscan lide25 from Euroffice which does the job well (includes photostudio 5.5 which allows me to set up a macro (i scan in at 300dpi) then apply macro which resizes to 1022 px height (and proportionate width) , the macro also rotates image by 180 deg and shapens lightly , i then save at 50% quality , which is producing good images at about 90 KB per sheet

The playlists when used ith G70 user program lists makes playing for an hour (or more) none stop now poss

After scanning my books (which will take at least a few months) i will be thinking about joining the local lending library!

The MPP does everything i expected (bought mine form Unison Music in UK)

Most music is copyrighted, so consider this before going to the library to get stuff to scan in.
Technically it is illegal to copy any copyrighted music even if you own it, but I don’t think anyone has been prosecuted doing it with music they own, but with borrowed music you’re definitely on dodgy ground.
Just a point to remember if you live in the UK (Most other countries also have similar laws)

I have only scanned none copyrighted materials - books of my own compositions (thanks for pointing out though i will of course only use the library for borrowing and not copying!

The sunhawk digital downloads site looks good , has anyone used it ?
