Yep...used it many times doing demos...a great system for the money...always got compliments on the sound quality.

Pretty easy to transport as well.

I had the 300 on poles for my arranger. Moved up to Eon10's and now on to what has been a remarkable improvement: Mackie 450v2's on the floor - terrific.

I had two Yamaha MS100s, which are active versions of the Stage Pass but with only 100 watts (versus 150 watts) per speaker.

I found that sometimes the 100 watt power output was not sufficient. Then I had some quality issues. I had a problem that required multiple trips to the repair center because it was difficult for my techie to resolve.

I switched to Eon10s. While I had both the MS100s and the Eon10s, I played them next to eachother. They sounded very similar. I would give a very slight nod to the MS100s in sound quality (at a moderately low volume).

Now I'm moving up to FBT Maxx 2A. They weigh 4 lbs more, but they get a much better bass response and power output. According to critics, they are supposed to be the best 10" powered speaker out there. But street price is about $650 apiece. I got an even better deal from RMC audio.

Is there a better value for the money? I.e. by building the whole system on your own.. buying speakers, a mixer, cables etc.?

Thanks,
Shim

Shim,

A couple questions come to mind. First, where will you be using the sound system?

If you will be playing for an audience, what will be the maximum size of the audience.

Also, what kind of music, Rock, blues, jazz, or a wide variety of genres?

Will the system be used for both keyboard and vocals? And, if this is the case, will you be firing the mic through the keyboard, or connecting everything individually through a mixer?

Answers to the above questions will go a long way in helping to determine the size and type of system that would be best suited to your individual needs.

Good Luck,

Gary

Good for you! So we'll be seeing you at some Bar Mitzvahs soon?

Why are you asking about if there's better value for the money? Are you thinking of returning it? If so, I'd put in a few hundred dollars extra and get something more powerful. If you can get 250 watts per side and a bigger speaker that would be better.

Chony, hopefully! :-)

Yes, I was thinking of returning it,
1. because of the low watt (300), 2. because it was quite expensive (with tax...)
and I thought I can get it online; for - at least- without tax.

But I got it in GC where there is a 15% restocking fee, so..

If it's in very good condition and you can tell it hasn't been used, they might take it back without a restocking fee.
